As we sat on the couch last night Blakely, our 8 year old grandson said “Wowaw, you made the Christmas lights on the organ the shape of a butterfly!” I looked at those lights and sure enough it looked like an outline of a butterfly. It was not intentional and I hadn’t seen it till he mentioned it, but there it was. Through the eyes of a child a string of lights shining on a Christmas display looked like something more.
Oh beloved, God wants you to know that this is the time of year to look at life through the eyes of a child. Yes, there are things going wrong. Yes, it’s not the perfect Christmas you’ve hoped for. Yes, you won’t get it all perfect and not every gift will fit or work or be right for the recipient. But as you change your focus you will begin to see things the average eyes will miss. The Lord is with you! He was born in a manger but He’s a risen King! He was born in obscurity but He’s returning as Redeemer of His own! Look closely at the scenes around you. Even the nativity you have placed in the corner is a reminder of the wonder of all that is Christ. Celebrate with the eyes of a child and rejoice with the heart of a youngster. Our God is with us! Our God is greater! He shines His light in every dark area and if you look just a little closer you will see more than your eyes can see and more than your heart imagines! The manger was just a starting point – and your situation is just a starting point for joy unspeakable and full of glory! Your destiny is more than cooking, cleaning, wrapping and being tired. Your destiny is to shine the glory of glory of the Lord as you celebrate as a child and find fresh anointing to share the Gospel message by excitement of the message this holiday holds! Keep Christmas in your heart all year long and watch as the troubles fade out of sight and the wonder of it all fills you with blessings untold!
God loves you and He’s for you! Run to His Word and see! God says to come to Him as a little child. So enjoy His presence, enjoy His blessings, enjoy His promise for the hardships and refocus on Him as you live in the Light of His Glory and Grace!
