Remember when the Weather Channel was about weather? And 24/7 you could click on it for your present weather and the forecast, even if there was no live programming at the moment. Now the weather channel is newsy and gloomy, just like a news channel. Words like deadly, devastating and threats pepper the information about weather. Naturally occurring winter weather is now upsetting and disturbing. It’s enough to make you want to avoid the weather altogether.
Dreary forecasts and dreary outlooks. These are the words for life these days. And what are we supposed to do? How can we make it through? Just how devastating will it all be?
Oh beloved, we know that weather occurs. It’s part of our human existence to experience winter weather, spring storms and summer heat. But did you know that our spiritual existence gives us experiences we don’t always want as well? Whatever you are going through, although it may seem devastating, you can rest assured that you are always in the Shelter of the Most High. Feelings are real and you feel the brunt of the disastrous situation right now. But you want to tune in to the channels that speak life, truth and hope. You won’t find any of that on the television. You may not find much of it among your peers. But in Christ and through the Word of God you will now the truth. And God’s Truth sets you free from the peril of hopeless living. Ask Moses. Ask Abigail. Ask Ruth. Ask Jonah. And oh so many more. From Bible historical accounts to present times, you will find the same answer from those who live in the Truth rather than the direness of life. Jesus Reigns, God Cares and your outcome is going to be glorious not devastation.
God loves you and He’s for you. In every season of life, there is Hope because He is the God of Hope. There is comfort because He is the God of All Comfort. Run to Him and thank Him for giving you more than what you see. And live in the joy of the Lord, for that is where your strength truly lies!
