Relax and Enjoy This Day!

You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore. -Psalm 16:11

My husband was invited to hunt with one of our sons-in-law yesterday and their children spent the night with their other grandmother. This gave my daughter an idea that we could go together, while the guys were hunting, and do garage sales and the flea market. I thought it was a great idea, except I would miss the grandkids!  I could have said no thank you, let’s go get the kids. But the idea of going somewhere and shopping together without little interruptions sounded great. It was a couple of hours of just the two of us and it turned out to be so much fun!

Often we are faced with little decisions that change what we do. We have a choice to go down the road to have a blessed time. But we have to leave the other road behind. If we spend all our time worrying about the road we didn’t go down, we will have our strength and joy sapped from us. Choices are part of life and often the choice we make about what to do, where to go and how to travel are just something we do without thinking. God has those choices for us if we just let Him decide. We have to let God give us good choices and know that ALL His choices for us are the best! His mind is on blessing us and giving us His richest plans. We have to decide once and for all to enjoy the moment we are in with Him.

My daughter and I eventually went to pick the grandkids up and had an afternoon of fun with them. But the morning we had together was great and I’m so glad we just had a good time and didn’t worry about things that weren’t in our hands.

Oh beloved, what do you plan to do today? Do you plan to enjoy the blessing of, as our pastor friend Gary Turner used to say, another day in God’s marvelous grace plan? Do you have decisions to make? Are you worried that you might miss something or miss the right choice altogether? Give your day to God this morning! Meet with Him early and give Him thanks, share your worries, and ask Him to help you. Little decisions or big decisions, God is actively planning for your good and His glory. Heartbreaks or hardships may be in the mix, but He says you are blessed, you are covered, you are chosen and you can live this day for Him. Drop the things you can’t change. Rejoice in who you are in Christ and enjoy this day with Him. He makes all things beautiful, He gives you beauty for ashes, and He makes you strong in Him even when things don’t look so good.

God loves you and He’s for you. Always remember that, as a child of God, through faith, you are not heading for destruction but to heaven. Since He loves you He wants you to walk in the light instead of the dark. You are a marvelous example of God’s redemptive power and merciful care. Choose Him as He chose you and enjoy, relax and be blessed this day!

2 Corinthians 5:7 for we walk by faith, not by sight.

Psalm 90:14 O satisfy us in the morning with Your lovingkindness, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.

I Peter 1:3 All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by His great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation…

Psalm 16:11 You will make known to me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; In Your right hand there are pleasures forever.

Psalm 36:8 They drink their fill of the abundance of Your house; And You give them to drink of the river of Your delights.

About Rebekah Beene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”
