Don’t Go Back to the Old Measuring Ways

perfected in christ

The flea market had a new booth with cute signs written on old barn wood. Although the signs were great, the boards themselves were irregular. My daughter wanted one of the signs for her bedroom. But she wasn’t sure she could deal with the imperfection. Finally, she decided to go ahead and purchase it. It was just what she wanted and she chose to overlook it being less than perfectly proportioned.

Life is imperfect. We want things all neat and tidy and even. It’s not. We’re not. We tend to scold ourselves when the imperfections of life show and we tend to get frustrated with God. We have a choice to make. Nothing on earth will be perfect.  Do we go with it and trust God to work it all out? Or do we spend time lamenting what we can do nothing about and miss the blessing of this day?

Oh beloved, your life may have its not so perfect spots, but God is always Perfect. He is Perfect in Love, perfect in Care, Perfect in Guidance, Forgiveness, Purpose and Viewpoint. Embrace your life in Christ and rejoice that He makes all things perfect in their time. His plans for you are just right, even when life is off kilter. You’ve tried oh so hard to make things look good, but God says look to Me for there is where I can make your heart perfect in Christ. Don’t look merely on the outward conditions for you are so much more than your circumstances. It’s time to choose Me instead of yourself. You will always disappoint yourself, but I will never disappoint, discourage, dishonor, or demand condemnation or self-loathing. I know your perfection only lies in Christ and His perfecting blood shed on the Cross for you. Seek to be perfected in Me and watch as those things that are so off will begin to line up. My Word is your only plumb bob. Don’t measure yourself by troubles, mistakes, imperfections, or failures. Quit recounting those things. My mercies, which line you up with Me, are new every morning. The closer you and I get the more square life will be. Don’t talk down to yourself any more about the very things you can’t make right. Remind yourself daily that you are a walking talking miracle of My mercy and grace.

God loves you and He’s for you. That’s your only measurement for a positive, faith filled life. Remember that the Great I AM is perfecting you in Christ. Choose today to accept His forgiveness and fresh anointing as you live in the Light of His Word. Don’t go back to the old measuring ways. Instead make your relationship with God your first priority and life will straighten up and you will walk in confidence and trust all the days of your life.

Psalm 147:10- 11 He takes no pleasure in the strength of a horse or in human might. No, the LORD’s delight is in those who fear Him, those who put their hope in His unfailing love.

Colossians 1:22 Yet now He has reconciled you to Himself through the death of Christ in His physical body. As a result, He has brought you into His own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before Him without a single fault.

Hebrews 9:14 Just think how much more the blood of Christ will purify our consciences from sinful deeds so that we can worship the living God. For by the power of the eternal Spirit, Christ offered Himself to God as a perfect sacrifice for our sins.

Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.

About rebekahbeene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”
