Burdens Relieved

Of all the changes in life that I have seen are the TV and the cell phone. TV’s have evolved into something disposable and lightweight. We actually have more TV’s at our house than people who live here! LOL The cell phone seems like a great idea on first look. But I’m not so sure. Seems like when phones were a luxury, they were a blessing. Now that they are a “necessity” they are a burden. You know what I mean?

Modern life may seem so much easier. But if it has excluded necessities like faith and truth and rest and peace, it’s a burden instead.

Oh beloved, God wants us all to take time to unhook ourselves from things that suck time out of us. He isn’t saying get rid of cell phones, throw out TV’s or get rid of modern conveniences. He certainly doesn’t want us to turn it into a religious effort. He is just suggesting that we look at our necessities and see which ones have turned into burdens. IT might not be a TV or a cell phone. Whatever it is, God will reveal it to you. And when God reveals our burdens, it’s to relieve us from anything too heavy to carry for ourselves.

God loves you and He wants to change your life! Aren’t we blessed that God cares, Jesus came to set us free and Holy Spirit will baptize us with wisdom, power and love. Thank Him for life’s modern amenities, but don’t let them tangle you into wasting your life. Give God first place and watch as He walks through this modern world with you and reveals His plan of redemptive Truth for you and all you encounter for Him.

Matthew 11:29-30 Take My yoke upon you. Let Me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.

1 Peter 5:6-7 Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time He may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you.

Psalm 68:19 Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears us up; God is our salvation. Selah

About Rebekah Beene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”
