Snake Bit

It’s been over 10 years since a little dog we had was snake bitten in our back yard. It was a huge snake- the gap of the fang marks was a full inch apart. It was really rough on the little dog, but she managed to survive. We never found the culprit. But I’ve avoided the area near the shed where she was bitten and I’ve kept the grands out of that cubby hole area in the back yard. Until yesterday.

One of our grandsons came running in hollering snake! Danny and our daughter ran outside and sure enough a huge water moccasin was coiled up at the creek by his shop. Could it be the same culprit from all those years ago? It certainly was the same area. I’d feel a lot better if they had been able to dispose of it.

The devil is a real snake in the grass. His bite may no longer be deadly for you thanks to Jesus, who put satan under His feet. But this nemesis will show up now and then to scare a believer and make them wary of venturing out. Just as Id like to be rid of snakes in my yard forever, so too I’d love to be rid of the enemy’s lurking in my life forever. He’s a beaten foe, but he will be dealt with in our lives until we go home to heaven. I love walking through the yard and seeing the beautiful greenery unfolding and the flowers profusely blooming, but if I concentrate on what might be lurking there I will avoid it. Instead God tells us to trust Him, follow Him and let Him show you the beauty of life.

Oh beloved, this morning is your day! It’s time to venture out of the safety of your enclosed life. To be sure you will have encounters – but most of them will be of the outstanding kind. The enemy doesn’t wait for you to venture out on walks in your yard or spiritual adventures beyond your borders. But your life doesn’t consist in avoidance at all costs. Your life consists in widening your borders, gaining new territory and moving out into unknown places with Christ.

Just as I won’t walk through the high grass or watery areas in my yard without proper foot covering, so too believers don’t venture out without the covering of the Spirit realm to protect against the lurking enemy’s bite. You beloved, are stronger than that. You are bolder than that. You are more protected than that. All you need to move out and move on is Christ. He is enough. He knows how to deal with the snake of the universe and He knows how to take care of you. Your life is not summed up in evasion, but rather in invasion. Everywhere you go, in the Spirit, as a believer, you invade the atmosphere of the angelic realm with the wisdom, power and love of Christ! Don’t waste another moment trying to play it safe. Enjoy every day. Live without fear. Remember whose you are. And remind yourself daily that you are a powerful force for the Kingdom and glory of God.

God loves you and He’s for you. That’s power! That’s strength! That’s protection! Run to the Lord this morning and thank Him for His immeasurable gift and live in the Light of the Power of the Cross from now on!

I Chronicles 4:10 Now Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, “Oh that You would bless me indeed and enlarge my border, and that Your hand might be with me, and that You would keep me from harm that it may not pain me!” And God granted him what he requested.

Ephesians 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms.

John 8:12 Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.”

Colossians 1:13 For He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son He loves…

Having a little more tv/nap time this past week, I found one new show on British TV. The hostess of the show hung out at the trash station hoping to find things she could repurpose or restore or both.

Her ability to take one person’s trash and make it a treasure was unbelievable. And she did just that. In her words, “it is a bit weird to some people to take away old stuff that has maybe no integrity and make it something.” She even took some interestingly painted bathroom stack pipe!

Each time, useless, broken, worn out, abandoned junk became something quite lovely and sought after with the touch of her masterful hand. She didn’t just fix the things she took. She made each thing completely new. Repurposed and changed.

Oh beloved, maybe you consider yourself ready for the trash heap. You feel unusable, broken and beyond repair. You may have been told just that by someone. You may just have lived with self-condemnation for so very long.

God wants you to know this morning, He is making all things new. You are so worth it all to Him. He loved you first. He loves you most. He gave His own son in exchange for you. Not just to give you a fresh start, or a fresh coat of whitewash. He gave Christ to make you completely new. You aren’t just another redone piece of rubbish. You are brand new and your life is now hidden in Christ. Old things have passed away and you have become new! Even though you have gone through things that make you feel like you are the same old same old – hopelessness has been removed from your name tag. You are now a great treasure of supernatural life. It’s time to drop the words that only want to put you down, and make you feel like you should throw yourself away. In God’s masterful hand you are changed into Kingdom quality and you are destined to reign with Him!

God the Father loves you and He is for you – He never forsakes His own ever. Rejoice in Christ’s redemption and restoration of your life. Refuse the life of uselessness the enemy predicts over you. And live full of joy as you walk in the Master’s makeover for your life!

2 Corinthians 5:16 – 17 So we have stopped evaluating others [and ourselves] from a human point of view. At one time we thought of Christ merely from a human point of view. How differently we know Him now! This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!

Romans 6:4 We therefore were buried with Him through baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may walk in newness of life.

Romans 8:11 And if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit, who dwells within you.

Romans 8:1 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus

Five Minute Friday- TIRED

I’ve been tired quite a few times since May 2017. The weary sleeping in a hospital bed tired. And the I cannot believe this dealing with life’s issues tired. I have never picked cotton or hoed a row of corn, I’m thinking that’s just may be an easier kind of tired.

Oh Beloved, God knows how tired you are I and how tired I am. And he loves us both. He loves us when we’re going On all our strength and when we have no strength at all.

Maybe it’s time to admit we try to do too much on our own. Hand him everything that is our problem and let him fix it. Being weary is not a gift of the spirit.

It’s late and I really am tired but I will tell you this God loves you and he is for you always. Run to him rest in him and find your blessings in him. He loves to take weary people and give them his rest.

Isaiah 40:31-32

Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion.

But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.

A Slug and a Dare

Woke up this morning reading a headline about an Australian teen who ate a slug on a dare at a birthday party. Gross! Unfortunately, it gets worse. The slug had a parasite and the teen was rendered paralyzed for life because the parasite entered his brain. He will never walk or move his arms again. All because of a dare.

The enemy dares us all the time. He dares us to believe God most of all. He dared Eve in the Garden when he spoke these words, “Did God really say…” He dared Jesus in the wilderness by basically saying, “I dare you to turn these stones into bread.” His dares always involve unbelief. If he can get someone to ingest unbelief, then they will become spiritually paralyzed.

Oh beloved, someone needs to know this morning that the tempter is daring you to ruin your life. He is telling God’s people that it’s hopeless, it’s pointless, it’s unbelievable. You are not going to fall for the lying liar’s dare though – you are going to step up to the plate and say No to the enemy and Yes to the Word of God. Not one Word of God is inedible. Neither will it ruin your life. It will not paralyze you, but the Word of God will paralyze fear, worry, rejection, unbelief, and all the impish fakery of the world.

God wants everyone of you to know that you are smarter than that. You are not the sum of the enemy’s lies nor your own mistakes. You are the exact representation of the Kingdom of Glory! He heals the backslider, He wakes up the sleeper, He pours out His power and love on anyone who comes to Him for living water. You are an amazing person and you can overcome, be victorious and live the life of great faith!

God loves you and He’s for you always. He’s constantly wooing you away from the precipice of disaster and into His loving arms. As you learn to take no dares from the enemy and live for Jesus, you will find the Kingdom within you to grow, prosper, strengthen and expand your life. Rejoice that you can go to the Father, resist the enemy and live in the Light of God’s Wonderful Word!

James 4:7 So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Romans 4:3 For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.”

Psalm 37:3 Trust in the LORD and do good; Dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness.

John 10:10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it more abundantly. KJV

The Great Physician Always Available

We managed to keep this crud that’s going around away from our house. Until last weekend. We did not invite it, nor did we do anything to allow it to come in. But it came all the same. It will require more fight power than we have in our systems. Danny is much better. I am now taking my turn at the doctor’s office. I’m just done with trying to fight it by myself.

I find that God uses just about anything to speak to my heart. We try to fight spiritual battles in the flesh. When the crud of the enemy comes upon us, we fight to keep Him at bay. He’s uninvited but even though we may have been delivered of it all – he will still try to come around. But when we go to the Great Physician, He gives us medicine the world knows not of. And we become stronger inside and out. We just have to be done with trying to fight him ourselves.

Oh beloved, you’ve been in a battle. It may be for your own deliverance. It might be for the deliverance, salvation or restoration of someone you love. The enemy keeps coming back at you and you’re worn out. The Father says come to Me, all you who are weary and heavy-laden. His medicine of the Spirit variety is all you need. A shot of praise in the dark works wonders. Inhaling the Word gets you breathing more peacefully. Prayer – going to the Father and getting His insight – gives you faith in the place of fear. But we have to go to Him. We’ve got to know His lovingkindness is better than life. He will say to you “Be of good courage! I have overcome the world for you”. He says don’t fear the enemy, “for I will fight for you”. He goes on to say “I have given you the victory”.

Why do His children, who don’t have to pay a thing and who don’t need insurance or any other supply to go to Him – wait? Why do we ingest the lies of the enemy and get sicker and sicker in spirit, body and soul before we finally relent and run to the Lord? Jesus says come, I AM the Way, the Truth and the Life.

God loves you and He’s for you. Everything you ever need is with Him, through Christ, by the indwelling power of Holy Spirit. He will use the wisdom of doctors and nurses because He says “apart from Me you can do nothing”. He may use nothing but Himself – for the same reason. You may think you are being ruined, trashed, killed or beaten. It may appear hopeless, but even then God’s Word gives us the victory of heaven. Run to Him this morning and ask for His wisdom and follow Him with your whole heart. Take the medicine He gives you. And live, beloved, in the Light of your Great Physician’s Truth!

Deuteronomy 3: 22 You shall not fear them, for the Lord your God shall fight for you.

2 Corinthians 10: 3-4 For though we walk (live) in the flesh, we are not carrying on our warfare according to the flesh and using mere human weapons. For the weapons of our warfare are not physical [weapons of flesh and blood], but they are mighty before God for the overthrow and destruction of strongholds.

I John 4:4 You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.

John 6:37 All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out.

Isaiah 54:10 “For the mountains may be removed and the hills may shake, But My lovingkindness will not be removed from you, And My covenant of peace will not be shaken,” Says the LORD who has compassion on you.
