Don’t Even Start It

Several years ago one of our friend’s sons filled his dad’s truck up at the gas station. Very commendable for a teenager. Except that he filled the truck with gasoline. The truck was diesel. This messed up everything. The truck looked the same but inside that gasoline messed up everything. Of course he didn’t realize what he’d done immediately and started and drove it.

We believers have to be careful as well. Our faith life doesn’t run well when we fill it with the wrong stuff. Just as there are instructions for what to do when you fill your car with the wrong stuff, so too God has instructions for us – don’t even start it.

Oh beloved, you and I will grieve, we will experience loss and we will have some turmoil in our lives. It’s inevitable. We live in a fallen world. We also have an enemy who speaks negative junk into our lives –reminding us of our shortcomings and flaws, making us feel inferior and often without value, and constantly trying to shut us down with discouragement or hopelessness, stealing our peace and joy. Despite the things we encounter that give us misery we must fill our lives with the right stuff.

God says to find relief don’t even start it. We can train our hearts and minds to do the right thing when the wrong thing wants to dismantle us. You beloved, are normal in your feelings. But there is a war in the heavenlies over your heart and your mind. And God wants to fill your mind with His truth so that when the wrong thoughts, ideas and troubles seek to overtake you – you will stop entertaining the junk that can sideline you and start living in the truth that keeps you running in the midst of it all.

Don’t let emotionally fueled thoughts clog your life. God is not going to help you live in the mess. He wants you to know today that you are still living and breathing and moving forth because He has a plan for your life. He wants you to know that the enemy fights hardest those who have a message from Him of hope and triumph. He wants you to know that you aren’t the sum of what has happened to you or how negatively you feel about yourself. You are a woman of great significance. You are a woman of destiny. You are a powerhouse just waiting to be fueled with God’s Truth so that you have more to feel blessed by than the circumstances of your day! You are a warrior and you are destined to win and reign with Christ, seated in heavenly places with Him!

God loves you and He’s for you. He never gives grief, He comforts. He never puts down, He lifts up. He never leaves you hopeless, He is full of encouraging Words that you can take in a live out. Run to Him this morning and ask for fresh infilling, ask Him to give you a strong filter to refuse wrong thoughts. And then live, beloved, full alive in the Light of His wonderful Word!

Proverbs 4:23 Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.

Proverbs 16:23 The hearts of the wise make their mouths prudent, and their lips promote instruction.

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled; do not be afraid.

Philippians 4:8 In conclusion, my friends, fill your minds with those things that are good and that deserve praise: things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and honorable. Good News Translation

“Just Relax”

Just relax.

Occasionally I will wake up in the night with a cramp in my foot or calf. Last night I woke up from a deep sleep with a cramp in the tendon on the front of my leg. It ran from the big toe almost to the knee. That made it kind of difficult to stand up! I know two good home remedies for cramps but because of where that cramp was, I could not get downstairs for either of them. So of course, I moaned and groaned. Finally, Danny woke up and prayed. Then he said “just relax”. I responded with something like sure I’ll just lean my head on the wall here and relax. Good advice. I wanted him to do more. I wanted him to do something besides what he said. But as I leaned my head against the wall and tried to relax, something happened. That giant cramp began to relax and in just a moment it went away.

How often have you or I heard the Lord say “just relax”?

Oh beloved, life has cramped your style more than once hasn’t it? Maybe you had someone in the room with you to pray. Maybe you’ve been all alone in your misery. You try your best to find relief but the pain is still agonizing and it captures your full attention. I understand. There are things in life that happen that we no control over. They shoot out of nowhere in the middle of the good life. We are forced to deal with those things.

But God wants to remind us this morning that when He says just relax, He’s not putting us off or trying to go back to sleep. He is with you and He is working the soreness out of the stuck situation you are in. You don’t have to lean your head on a wall. You can lean your whole life on the Lord. Will you have troubles? Most assuredly. It’s just part of life on planet earth. Will you survive? Most assuredly because that’s part of life in Christ. His hand is always on your life. He knows you intimately and He has prepared you for even these times when the pain seems insurmountable and the heartbreak seems real enough to truly break your heart.

There’s much debate on how to get relief from a cramp. So too there is much debate on how to find relief in life. But the only sure plan for help comes from the Lord. When we pray He hears. When we listen He rewards. When we walk in faith He applauds. Much may happen in your life, but nothing will cramp your walk with Him as long as you focus on your Victory instead of your present battle. You are a winner no matter what!

God loves you and He is for you – always, no matter what, in spite of it all. Run to Him this morning and praise Him for the Truth of His merciful love and incredible grace. And live, beloved, relaxed in His presence, no matter what.

1 Corinthians 2:9 Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man, the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.

Ephesians 2:6-7 For He raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus. So God can point to us in all future ages as examples of the incredible wealth of His grace and kindness toward us, as shown in all He has done for us who are united with Christ Jesus.

I Peter 5:6-7 Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time He may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you.

Psalm 16:8 I know the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for He is right beside me.

Philippians 4:19 And my God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.

So What Are You Here For?

I was in the mega store yesterday and began the checkout process when dozens of other people were doing the same thing. Finally I got checked out and went back to the office. I would like to say I’ll never go there again. This check out change is frustrating to say the least.

So too with life. Sometimes we just want to leave the mess, the troubles, the discouragement behind don’t we? It’s not always easy nor is it rewarding to remain.
Then last night during our fellowship time while praise and worship was going on I heard the Lord drop into my spirit “So what are you here for?”

Oh beloved, God wants to encourage you this morning. Your life is not your own. He wants you to realize that you aren’t just here for yourself. You are salt and light in the world today. You are an ambassador of the love of God to go places and be a standard bearer in the trenches of life. Whether it’s in a checkout line or on social media, your life is not just about the misquotes, mishaps and judgments. The Lord says this to all of us – we have died and our life is now hidden in Christ.

The things you are going through are not always pleasant are they? But even your momentary light afflictions are producing things in the Spirit realm you cannot know. What are you here for? To live for Jesus. No matter how many times you fold clothes, wash dishes or take out the trash. Each and every time is essential. So too your presence in the world, salt and light beloved, is essential. Your presence in your home is amazingly essential. You may not get thanks, you may be in a battle even in your home, but God says remember why you are here. Hold tight. To the circumstances? No Hold tight to God’s unchanging hand. The battles you encounter are His. The position you fight from is having done all – Stand. There is a reward coming that is far greater than the issues you face right now. God calls you blessed and appointed. It can’t get any better than that can it? You are beautifully outfitted in the Spirit to hang on, to move on and to produce glorious results by being where you are.

God loves you and He’s for you. Always. No matter what. In good times and bad. In the recliner and the check out line. You and I need to always remember as we run to the Father, we approach the Only Living God who has called us to walk in His light and live as emissaries of faith wherever we may go.

Matthew 5:13 You are the salt of the earth

Matthew 5:14 You are the light of the world

Colossians 1:9-12 9 For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

Anchor of Trust

With our new internet we decided to try tv as well. We have been off the grid with regular channels for quite a few years. Now I love getting to watch home remodeling and such again. But some of those channels now have programs that we just have to avoid. Things have changed on tv. Things are changing in the world as well.

But we can’t give up, can we? Just as we pray for our loved ones and friends, so too we keep praying for our country, our leaders and those who wish to destroy our godly heritage. It’s not time to hide and wait. It’s time to be bolder for the faith.

Oh beloved, prayer seems elusive at times I know. You have prayed and prayed and prayed. Still you see nothing. You wonder. You try to remain steadfast but you wonder if God hears you. His Word says He hears the prayer of the righteous. Yet some prayers seem to fall like leaves from a winter tree. Lying on the ground are your hopes and dreams. You want to pick those yet unanswered prayers up and paste them back where you think they belong.

God speaks to your heart and mine this morning. Trust is your anchor in times like these. He is moving in your midst and He is formulating things in the Spirit that you can’t even see. He is turning your mess into a message. He is rearranging your life for your good and most of all His glory. What once was a source of immense struggle, pain and embarrassment for you will become an entrance for God’s glory. You who have prayed in secret and kept on praying, will become mouthpieces for the Kingdom of God! You aren’t being tortured with hope deferred, you are being strengthened in the battle. And beloved, even in the battleground you are being carried by His love and ushered through the front lines by the Cross.

God loves you and He’s for you. Keep your eyes on the Lord. Keep your heart soft toward the King. Keep your prayers fervent in spite of the pain. Keep walking in right standing with Him. And run to Him this morning for special dispensation – for more wisdom, power and love. And rejoice that you get to bring all your needs to the Throne Room where once no one could enter. And rejoice too that you get to formulate more trust in the Lord who always gives the best to His own. And live, beloved, as a fervent warrior of the Most High as you walk in His truth no matter what goes on around you knowing that God will reveal His will at just the right time for you.

I Thessalonians 5:17 Never stop praying.

Ephesians 6:18 Pray in the Spirit at all times, with every kind of prayer and petition. To this end, stay alert with all perseverance in your prayers for all the saints.

Romans 12:12 Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying.

Psalm 146:5 But joyful are those who have the God of Israel as their helper, whose hope is in the LORD their God.

Psalm 37:3 Trust in the LORD and do good; Dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness.

Psalm 62:8 Trust in Him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts before Him. God is our refuge. Selah

Gifts Overflowing For You

Since the weekend was sunny for a change, we spent most of the two days outside. After church we came home and ate a quick lunch. After we did some gun siting (well Danny did, lol) we went to Iron Mountain marina and enjoyed spending a gift certificate that I had. We had forgotten all about that certificate, which was given to me spring of last year as I won a tshirt design contest they put on. What a blessing for the New year!

It reminded me that we should never forget the good gifts God gives us. We need to be lavish in our spending of those gifts. Although I used up that certificate Sunday, God’s gifts can never be used up. They keep on giving and we keep on using them to build ourselves up in our most holy faith. And we even can pour them out on others for the benefit of blessings from the Lord through us.

Oh beloved, when you have nothing in your hands you can be assured that you have riches untold. Gifts of faith, love and light are yours always. God wants you to know that you are never a pauper for He doesn’t measure you by your stock portfolio or your bank account. He measures the heart and He measures that with the Blood of Christ. Your certificate of value was signed at the Cross and validated at the Resurrection. He knows you well, but He sees you as a beloved believer – full of the promises He has poured out on you. Maybe things haven’t gone well for you lately, but that doesn’t mean God is angry with you or indifferent to your needs. He doesn’t pour out His wrath on the believer – He teaches and woos and corrects – all in love. You don’t have to worry if you will have enough faith – it’s built within your born again DNA. You don’t have to worry if He will help you – He is the God of all Help. It’s His nature to be your advocate, your provider and your guard. It’s time to expose the lies of the enemy and walk out of that prison of despair. You were meant for more than just barely scraping by. You were meant to love and be loved, to rejoice and be full of joy and to live for Jesus in the power of His resurrection!

God loves you and He’s for you. Run to Him this morning and ask Him about the gifts He has for you. Thank Him that they never run out. Thank Him that His fellowship is your finest gift and His Spirit is your reason for walking the earth today. And live, beloved, in the Light of His Wonderful Love!

Romans 5:15 But there is a great difference between Adam’s sin and God’s gracious gift. For the sin of this one man, Adam, brought death to many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of forgiveness to many through this other man, Jesus Christ.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Matthew 7:11 So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask Him.

Romans 8:32 He who did not spare His own Son but gave Him up for us all, how will He not also, along with Him, freely give us all things?

2 Peter 1:3 By His divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know Him, the one who called us to Himself by means of His marvelous glory and excellence.
