Heart Warming- God’s Specialty

Last night I went to our 10 year old grandson’s Christmas concert. After the balmy weather we’ve had I was freezing. I know, it’s not even winter yet, but I am already anticipating spring. Chilled to the bone, I was wishing I had at least worn a sweater. I rode with his family to the concert and back to their house. The three grands showed me the Christmas lights in their bedrooms and I got hugs from them all and headed for the car.

As I approached I heard the motor and wondered if I’d forgotten to turn it off when I arrived. (Prius cars make no noise, it’s easier to forget to turn them off than you’d think). But as I got into the seat and felt the warmth inside I realized something. My son in love had gone to my car, started it up and turned the heat on high for me. I was in tears. Such a kind gesture! And what a blessing! I hadn’t asked for it, nor had I even thought of it. Still I was blessed.

Oh beloved, God knows your needs. Even now, when the world can be so dark and cold. Watch for His presence. Watch as He performs wondrous deeds for you out of nowhere. Even when you don’t know you have a need, He provides. Look back and see what He’s done for you in the past. Look now at what He is doing. And rejoice that as you look forward you know He has gone before you and will provide for every need according to His riches in Glory!

He knows your heart needs warming and your life needs a spark of hope. He’s your hope. He’s your spark. He’s your warmth in these times. Even at Christmas, people can get depressed, discouraged, and full of despair. But with Christ at the manger, Christ on the Cross and Christ the Resurrected One who left the tomb empty, we can set our hearts on more than just another miserable winter, miserable holiday, miserable life. You, beloved, are so beautiful to the Lord and He loves you so much that He has moved heaven and earth on your behalf. Don’t waste another moment groaning over what chills you, but watch as God might even use another person to bless you.

God loves you and He’s for you. He’s got you covered. No matter what your days feel like, you can know that you are cared for. So rest in His peace, rejoice in Christ’s birth, worship Him in Holiness and live in the warmth of His glory and grace!

Psalm 34:9-10 Oh, fear the Lord, you his saints, for those who fear him have no lack! The young lions suffer want and hunger; but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.

Psalm 139:5-6 You have enclosed me behind and before, And laid Your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is too high, I cannot attain to it.

Hebrews 11:1 Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.

Psalm 23:1 The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want.

What’s For Christmas?

Danny asked me what I wanted for Christmas. I was hard pressed to think of anything. While I was thinking about it, he said I don’t want a thing. I’ve got what I want. That’s how I feel too. Now there will probably be something under the tree, but we received so much this year and we are very grateful to still have one another.

Oh beloved, what are you longing for this Christmas? Do you have a list ready? Are you frantically hoping your list gets filled? Maybe you’re hopeless. Nothing has ever turned out right on Christmas anyway. Hallmark makes it all look so easy. But life can get messy. People disappoint, jobs play out, money runs out. You can end up with a very bare tree and even barer hopes and dreams.

God wants to speak to your heart this morning. He wants you to know that He is the Gift that keeps on giving. He makes the straggly struggles turn into messages of love. He causes the crashes of heartaches turn out to be joyful refrains of beautiful music. Not everything can or ever will be perfect. But Christ in you is the hope of your glory. Turning your eyes and thoughts away from what isn’t and focusing on what is will help. Don’t waste all your resources on waiting for the right moment to enjoy the season. Greater is He who is in you – and great is your blessing and reward. Those who keep following Christ no matter what are those who find abiding joy and rest and peace and purpose.

God loves you and He’s for you. Praying today that you will embrace His love and wear it for the watching world. Trust God. He knows where you are. Maybe the season may not be jolly for you, but it can be enough. Because of Christ and the Light of the World. And because you are choosing to live in that Light and rejoice in Him too.

John 8:12 Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.”

Luke 1:79 TO SHINE UPON THOSE WHO SIT IN DARKNESS AND THE SHADOW OF DEATH, To guide our feet into the way of peace.

I Peter 1:8 Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory

Psalm 123:2 Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their master, As the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress, So our eyes look to the LORD our God, Until He is gracious to us.

What Are You Searching For?

As we placed our ornaments on the tree this year I could not find two of my favorites. One was a Rudolph that has been on my tree every year of my life. My mother gave that ornament, along with several others, for me to put on the tree in our home. I wasn’t happy that I couldn’t find it. So I searched and searched. Finally it was found in another box, separate from the rest of the ornaments. Searching brought forth the reward.

Oh beloved, maybe you haven’t lost or misplaced a Christmas ornament. But you’ve lost something and you’re not sure if you’ll ever find it again. You’ve about given up. Life has gotten very complicated and you are oh so busy. The Lord wants you to know that when you search with all your heart, you will again find it. And it’s not far hidden nor out of reach. Everything you’ve ever wanted is found in Christ. It’s strange how we humans search to find satisfaction, pleasure, happiness and more. But when we stop and put our focus on the manger, the cross and the open tomb we find everything. Among the amazing things we always yearn for are peace, love, purpose, position, value, meaning and more.

God wants you to know this morning that His plans for you include everything you can imagine and so much more. The world doesn’t give anything of lasting value, even if you work harder. But just abiding in the presence of the Lord returns manifold blessings for you. You’re not destined to feel overwhelmed and undervalued. Your destiny lies in the truths of the Word – beautiful, cherished, honored, loved, restored, redeemed, blessed. Even your heartbreaks are turned into blessings. Even your tears – captured in His hand and poured into a bottle. He forgets nothing about you and He never forgets to care about and for you in every way. He is your Provider.

God loves you and He’s for you. Search Him out. He promises to be found by you. You’ll never be disappointed as you live in the Presence of the only One who can give your life the meaning your heart so longs for.

Lamentations 3:25 The LORD is good to those who depend on Him, to those who search for Him.

Matthew 6:32-33 These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need.

Ephesians 3:19 May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

Psalm 16:11 You will make known to me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; In Your right hand there are pleasures forever.

Glorify Him in The Season

I have found a new friend in the last months. She has become very dear to my heart. We’re both bloggers and lovers of God. We’re both wives of husbands who are on mission for God and who have gone/are going through a health storm. Her husband is in such terrific pain because of a rare virus. It is still causing him great torment. My precious husband has healed and recovered in incredible ways. Because of what we’ve been through, my heart goes out to this woman of faith who has become so dear because we relate to one another. She and her husband are also believing God for restoration.

I can so relate to her life. She says it this way: My life looks much different now. But what she says next is what speaks to my heart and maybe yours. “My mission hasn’t changed, just my function. My hope and desire, and God’s mission for me (and for you) is to glorify Him in the season and situation where He’s placed us.”

Oh beloved. And you truly are beloved. You may be in a season in which it is hard to celebrate anything, especially Christmas. Maybe you can’t say tis the season to be jolly, but beloved, God will give you incredible joy right in the middle of the mess. For the angels said to the shepherd and they speak to you and me, “Behold! I bring you good tidings of GREAT JOY!” You have a Savior beloved, who is acquainted with your sorrows and bore your sins in His own body. He knows how you feel. He is with you in the midst of it. And He promises, oh how He promises, that this momentary light affliction is working for you a magnificent weight of GLORY!

He speaks in words of love to you always. Love brought Him to the manger, love propelled Him to reach the world and love stationed Him at the cross.  Even now, even though you may be facing hardship, even if your life has changed in ways you never expected, nothing is going to separate you from His love. And even though you may be facing difficulties, there is always hope for your heart. Never give up and never give in. Your destiny is wrapped up in the miracle of Christ – and His miracle is ever present and always available.  Your life is so beautiful to Him and so valuable that even though it’s hard to face He goes before you always. You are an amazing picture of God’s wisdom, power and love. The world is watching you give glory to Him and they are speechless.  But even now God is giving you words to share and people to speak God’s truth into.

God loves you and He’s for you. If you have nowhere else to rest, rest in those words. Whether this is your best season or not, Jesus is always your best reason to live in the Light of His Mercy and Grace!

Psalm 34:3-4 O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt His name together. I sought the LORD, and He answered me, and delivered me from all my fears.

Romans 5:5 And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out His love into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, whom He has given us.

Hebrews 6:19 We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and steadfast. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain

Isaiah 51:11 So the ransomed of the LORD will return And come with joyful shouting to Zion, And everlasting joy will be on their heads. They will obtain gladness and joy, And sorrow and sighing will flee away.

Go Ahead and Try It

Last night the grands were playing on my piano. I haven’t played in a while, but I sat down and picked up a book to play. As I read the music and attempted to hit all the keys I discovered I was quite rusty. I need to practice. It was so enjoyable that I look forward to sitting there again. I intend to take time before Christmas to brush up on music for the holiday season.

Oh beloved, God wants you to know that even if you haven’t sat in His presence in a while, it’s not too late. Don’t think because you haven’t that you can’t. Every morning is a new opportunity to spend time with the Lord. Practice does improve the time. Even if you forgot how to pray and how to be thankful to Him, it’s simple. Just begin. He already knows your life is so busy. But He isn’t waiting with an iron fist to punish you or to criticize you. The enemy may say too late, not worthy or get busier. God says come with Me to a quiet place and find the peace you’ve been searching for.

You will never hear the Lord speak condemnation nor accusation to you. He delights in your conversations with Him. He cares for you even when you are too busy. But He wants you to spend time with Him so that He can pour out His anointing and blessing to you. You need these things more than you know. No problems are beyond God’s help – even if you got yourself into a mess. He’s with you, for you and works on your behalf.

God loves you and He’s for you. That’s why He’s always here waiting for you. He’s always welcoming you back into His presence. He’s always working things out for your good and His glory. Rejoice that you never have to worry about brushing up on prayer. And praise Him that you can live and move and have your entire being taken care of by the One who knows you best and loves you most.

Deuteronomy 33:12 May the beloved of the LORD dwell in security by Him, Who shields him all the day, And he dwells between His shoulders.

Psalm 16:11 You will make known to me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; In Your right hand there are pleasures forever.

Psalm 43:4 Then I will go to the altar of God, To God my exceeding joy; And upon the lyre I shall praise You, O God, my God.
