Monday – Rearranging?

Yesterday we decided to rearrange our living room. We moved everything to different places in ways we’ve never done before. It was a bigger job than we anticipated. As we moved furniture and turned the rug, we found that there were hidden things that needed sweeping and casting out. Not a huge mess but still the vacuum along with the dust mop was used. Finally everything was moved and we plugged it all back in. Since we got this bright idea early before church, we turned on some praise and worship videos. The rearrangement gave us several benefits – we could see a different area of the front yard, we had better sound through the system we have on the tv and even the couches seemed to fit better and sit better.

Rearranging furniture is good exercise. But allowing God to rearrange our lives is even better. We get settled in one place and before we know it we’re stuck. But allowing Holy Spirit movement gives us fresh perspective and seats us in new heavenly places with Christ.

Oh beloved, you’ve seen some changes lately. Some you wanted. Some you didn’t. You may not understand it all but you are being redirected in the middle of it all. This rearranging of your life has uncovered some dusty areas. It’s not time to worry it’s time to be glad! You’re going to see more changes made by this turn of events than you can imagine. As you allow God to shift your focus you will see different areas of Holy Spirit, you’ll have keener hearing for His nudgings and the shift will fit you better.

God wants you to know that you are fit for this change. You have the strength through Him to make the physical, emotional and spiritual moves. Since all things work together for your good, you will increase in trust of the Lord because you will see the end result after the move. There is such delight from Him for your life – He loves to bless you in changes, strengthen you in movements and widen your horizons for the Kingdom. You’re going to find out some wonderful things! You CAN do it! And in moving things around you will find yourself feeling better, seeing better and doing more activity that sparks the Spirit within you!

God loves you and He’s for you! Your place of rest and your position for movement are all wrapped up in those words. Don’t fear losing stuff in the process, for you are destined to find more gold beneath the movement. Rejoice that you can run to Him for help all along the way as you live for Him and work in the Light of His Glory and Grace!

Isaiah 55:12 You will indeed go out with joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands.

Job 17:9 The righteous keep moving forward, and those with clean hands become stronger and stronger.

Philippians 4:13 For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.

Romans 12:2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

Psalm 32:8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you.

An Anniversary for Our Nation

This is our 17th anniversary. Of our entire nation that is. While many milestones are forgettable, we never want to forget this one. We must always remember this anniversary. We cannot afford to forget.

We also must remember, we cannot afford to forget – the anniversary when we were born again.

This signaled a change in everything for us. Can you remember when you were born again? Changed? That’s the anniversary to keep in your heart!

Oh beloved, today is worth celebrating. Celebrating the truth of your life. While 9/11 is a very sorrowful day in the history of our country, the fact that you are alive and waking up this morning is a celebration. It’s no random act of life that you are living. You aren’t just walking through this world with your own agenda. No, you are alive in Christ! As a believer, you have fresh mercy each morning and new assignments of faith. Your journey may have been difficult at times, it could be difficult right now. I understand. Hard times are not for the faint of heart. Yet we often faint in the memory even of former hard times. God says stop replaying the hardship. Look to Him and remember what He has done for you. Regardless of what anniversary you are experiencing, you can be assured that God has gone before you, walked beside you and stood behind you as your rear guard. He will do it again. You don’t have to worry about the past nor do you have to fear the future. You are stronger than that – because you have the same spirit that raised Christ from the dead! You are going to remain loyal and faithful to the Lord because He is with you and He has never failed you. You aren’t going to lose your way for His Light guides you continually – in all your ways, through all your days.

God loves you and He’s for you! He got you here to this day by the power of His outstretched hand. Difficult anniversaries may be part of your life, but nothing is too difficult for the Lord. Run to Him this morning and give Him this day. Ask Him to give you fresh insight for living. And walk, run and dance in the Light of His glory and grace!

Jeremiah 32:27 “Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh; is anything too difficult for Me?”

Jeremiah 33:3 Call to Me and I will answer and show you great and unsearchable things you do not know.

I Chronicles 16:11 Seek the LORD and His strength; Seek His face continually.

I Peter 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead

Acts 20:32 And now I commit you to God and to the word of His grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance among all who are sanctified.

Nothing Stays The Same – Thursday, September 6, 2018

Two newspapers – The Daily Siftings Herald and The Hope Star, with a combined 295 years of continued publication- will cease rolling off the presses in less than two weeks. One contained our engagement and wedding announcement, and later baby announcements. The paper here has held our children and grandchildren’s births, school honor rolls, wedding photos, college highlights and more. Both are home town, home grown papers that were bought out by bigger publishers more than once. But now the presses will be stopped forever. And both communities are saddened by this.

Oh beloved, God wants you to know that nothing stays the same. This is a sad truth. You put your heart and soul into things that aren’t going forward. Progress is not always a good thing. But you don’t have to worry about it – for you are progressing on to new heights. While the local paper shared stories of great interest to local people for over a century, your story is being told in the heavenlies without fail. And your story is important to the world as well. What you’ve been through, and how God saw you through it all and encouraged you, equipped you, restored you and kept you going with His Word – this is the story that gives Him fame in spite of it all. You’ve got something to tell and it is important. As you progress closer and closer to the Lord, you become a more powerful entity in the Kingdom.

Old newspaper companies can be bought out and done in, but you will not be. No enemy can defeat you because your strength lies in the Lord not yourself. No foe can destroy your testimony because Christ stood in your place to give you the greatest victory ever known. What you’ve been through looked hard and difficult, but now it is beautiful and lavish – and you can own the truth about yourself without fear of repercussions. While these old newspapers, once full of local stories, had pretty much quit giving out the power of local flavor, your message will remain yours to tell with joy. Don’t be afraid to write, speak, share and bless others with the truth that Jesus saved you, set you apart, delivered you from your former life and has given you a new heart to reach others.

Your life is so very important to the Lord – so much so that He has given you the blessing of His Word to enhance your life and His heaven to reward you in the end with eternal life with Him! Your story is His story and it is a rich story of love, faith, rescue and restoration!

God loves you and He’s for you! Run to Him this morning and thank Him for your story of faith. And give Him the opportunity to show you just how wonderful, miraculous, supernatural and powerful your story is. And live in the Light of His Truth about your whole beautiful life in Christ!

Isaiah 62:3 The LORD will hold you in His hand for all to see–a splendid crown in the hand of God.

Romans 1:16 I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, first to the Jew, then to the Greek.

Matthew 9:31 But they went out and spread the news about Him throughout all that land.

Colossians 1:27 To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

2 Corinthians 5:20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.

Tropical Storm Gordon – Wednesday, September 5, 2018

Tropical storm Gordon has made landfall along the Gulf Coast. The projected pathway includes right in our area. Thankfully people from Biloxi to here have been pre-warned and have had time to make some preparation for the flood and storms that come with these storms. There will be hourly reports and all-day discussions of the path of this storm and the winds and rain to come.

Don’t you wish we had a news station that would project the storms of life and the path they would take? We’d make big preparation and avoid the trouble altogether.

Oh beloved, you and I cannot avoid storms in life, but we can pre-plan for them. We can prepare ourselves for life’s flood of sorrow, disappointment, bereavement, fear and more. We’re not just average people who live without resources for help in our disasters. We have the Lord, who prepares us for life with His Word. We see how others throughout history survived the winds of misfortune. We read God’s instructions for living a life of faith even in the worst storms of our lives. We have the LORD, who went to great lengths so that we could have an abundant life! You aren’t the sum of your worst nightmares, you are a child of the Most High God – the Only Living God!

He wants you to know this morning that time with Him is your best preparation for life. And He wants you to know that you will live through the hardest of times. You aren’t destined to be destroyed. You are destined to arrive home in heaven – right on time. And in the meantime, every resource of heaven is at your disposal. You don’t have to give up, or give in. You don’t have to quit in the midst or fall for the lies of the enemy. Ask God for fresh insight while the storm rages around you. He will come and give that insight to you and love you, care for you and rescue you in every situation. You are guaranteed a life full of His glory as you seek Him with all your heart!

God loves you and He’s for you. Yes, storms will come. You can’t predict where or when. But you can run to Him this morning and ask for His preparations, read His Word, believe His truth and rejoice in His covering. And then you can live in the Light of His help for all your days!

Proverbs 10:25 When the storms of life come, the wicked are whirled away, but the godly have a lasting foundation.

Psalm 91:1-2 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the LORD, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust!”

Isaiah 25:4 For You have been a refuge for the poor, a stronghold for the needy in distress, a refuge from the storm, a shade from the heat…

Psalm 23:4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

Psalm 119:81 My soul faints with longing for Your salvation, but I have put my hope in Your word.

Age Is Just A Number – Tuesday, September 4, 2018

Today is my husband’s birthday. As we sat around the dining table yesterday celebrating with family, I couldn’t help but let a tear or two go. I’m so very thankful that we are celebrating his life. If there’s one thing, it’s that we don’t take a single day for granted. We’re not so wrapped up in the rat race that we don’t thank God for life and thank each other for life together. I looked at some of his awards on the wall. He was ordained to preach the Gospel in 2005 at age 56. He graduated from high school via GED in 2007 at age 58. He is by no means a late bloomer, but He felt God’s nudge for both and so he proceeded. And he is living proof that God’s calling and plan doesn’t stop at a certain age. When he was flat on his back in the hospital last year he heard through an angel/nurse that he would still be used of God. Even a birthday message from across the world encouraged Danny to continue in the calling.

Age is just a number, but God’s calling is ageless.

Oh beloved, what are you waiting for? Wait on the Lord – that’s your only condition. If He put a call on your heart at age 20, 40, 60 or 80, it’s your time to pursue Him for the outcome of that call. It’s not time to retire from Christianity or from ministry. You may be thinking you missed God entirely. He wants you to know He hasn’t repented of, regretted, or take your calling back. You’re still called. You’re still chosen. You’re still His and He wants to move you into yet another season of a closer walk with Him and a new facet of ministry for Him.

God also wants you to know that He is with you through it all. Through the sickness, through the heartaches, through the rejection, the weariness, the days when you want to quit, give up, lay it down or stop living. Jesus is at the throne even now interceding for you. He prays that your faith doesn’t fail. He prays that you now your place at His table. He prays that you won’t fill your life on what people think, but rather you will listen to God. He says you are able, you are not done yet, you are invincible in the Spirit and He alone is your source and your cause. It’s not time to quit, it’s time to rise up and enjoy whatever God puts in your heart! This is the good life – to live for Jesus every single day!

God loves you and He’s for you! As long as you live, it’s time to praise the Lord, rise up in faith, walk out your calling and enjoy His presence. Run to Him this morning and ask Him to renew your heart to His purpose. And live, beloved, fully alive, in the light of His plan for your days!

I Thessalonians 5:24 The One calling you is faithful, who also will do it.

1 Thessalonians 2:12 We encouraged you and comforted you as we urged you to walk in a manner worthy of God, who calls you into His own kingdom and glory.

Ephesians 1:11 In Him we were also chosen as God’s own, having been predestined according to the plan of Him who works out everything by the counsel of His will

Psalm 89:1 I will sing of the LORD’s loving devotion forever; with my mouth I will proclaim Your faithfulness to all generations.

I Chronicles 16:11 Seek the LORD and His strength; Seek His face continually.
