As I woke up and looked outside to the deck, I realized that some of the plans for the day may not happen. Ice covers the deck and everything around it. Although I had seen the forecast, my weather app had assured me the wintry weather chance wouldn’t happen until late afternoon. I had already had a group text with daughters and we concurred that “we are done with this weather”. So really, it’s happening again?
Oh beloved, maybe you like the ice-covered layers of winter. It’s a natural event that almost always happens in our area of the country. If so good for you! LOL
But life is a lot like the wintry surprise this morning. You’ve dealt with the issue and you really thought you were done with it. And here you are still dealing with the rearing of its ugly head. God wants you to know this morning that you aren’t responsible for the outcome or the cessation of the situation. You are only in control of your response. And while it hurts and you feel like you’re slipping as though you are walking on ice, God will hold onto you and get you through it. Just keep going through. Tomorrow’s forecast is better as the weather goes. And God’s forecast for your life is better as well. Sometime ahead you will see sunshine return. Don’t let the bad situation you are dealing with turn you into a fearful, sorrowful, self-blaming weakling. That’s not what you are called to be. Don’t read every special statement you hear about. Not all weather reports are for you personally. Even the news won’t tell you all the truth. But God remains on His throne and you remain His child. News and weather and even what you see with your own eyes may bring you down. But if you will experience the Goodness of God, you will not be taken over by any bad news!
God loves you and He’s for you. In freezing situations and balmy days. Both help you realize who you really are in Christ. Don’t shed tears over people, places or things that hurt and bring worry. Instead, rehearse the praises of one who has been called out of darkness and into the marvelous light!
I Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light
1 Peter 1:2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied!
Romans 8:17 And if we are children, then we are heirs: heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ–if indeed we suffer with Him, so that we may also be glorified with Him.
2 Corinthians 4:18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
