We had a great weekend. Got out in the beautiful weather for a little while. And we watched some episodes of the Waltons and some movies. The last movie we watched was a bust though. We laughed at the end as hubby looked at me and said, “That was pointless”. Sure enough the story line was very intriguing but the actual movie had no intrigue at all. In fact, it was rather sad as well. Great love story followed by the hero never getting around to proposing and never talking to the woman again when he returned from the war. Pointless.
Oh beloved, this morning God is saying to you and me. Nothing about your life is pointless. Not the story line nor the day to day working it all out. His promise to make your life have meaning is an ongoing saga of good and not so good. Even now you may be thinking that your life was pointless. But that’s because you can’t see from God’s perspective. Remember this one thing first: Jesus went to the cross and became sin on your behalf so that you could have the righteousness of God in Christ. There is where your pointless life became meaningful. All for you. His life was certainly not pointless!
God knows that days can be mundane, exciting, fearful and hopeful – all in the same week at times! Just like the weather, which was quite balmy yesterday but promising wintry in a few days – your life has ups and downs. But you don’t ride those waves alone. You have the King of Kings as an escort through it all. And by the power of Holy Spirit, you will not only make it, you will arrive with joy!
God loves you and He is for you. Goodness and Mercy are riding along with you always, as you live in the Light of Jesus and walk in the wonderful life changing power of the Lord!
Micah 6:8 No, O people, the LORD has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.
Psalm 73:28 But as for me, how good it is to be near God! I have made the Sovereign LORD my shelter, and I will tell everyone about the wonderful things You do.
2 Corinthians 5:21 He made Him who knew no sin to be sin in our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
Romans 1:17 For the gospel reveals the righteousness of God that comes by faith from start to finish, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith”.
