Make Way For Spiritual Progress

Well, our town motto is now “make way for progress”. Widening of one of our main streets will cause some businesses to be shut down, either temporarily or permanently. I’ve got to say I’m not always a fan of progress. Sometimes I just want things to say the same. Things have changed so much since we moved here. The old hospital turned nursing home turned empty lot is just one of the many, many changes.

It is true: The more we want things to stay the same the harder it is to move on.

Oh beloved, moving on is what we all have to do isn’t it? Not all progress seems like a good thing at the time, but you have to set your sights beyond the things of earth to reach on to other things.
God wants you to know today that He is well aware of all the changes you have seen. He is also aware of the changes looming before you. In life He often has to bother the nest to get His chicks to take flight. And He is bothering your nest, isn’t He? It seems so much easier to just keep things the way they always were. But you have more adventure awaiting you. More than widening a main street. God is widening your horizons. Don’t worry about it. Don’t fret. Just move with the flow of life. As God moves you to the next level you will see how good He has been to you. You may not want the change, but you will love where He takes you. Hoping for a return to your childhood best won’t help at all. But hoping for heaven while occupying here, will give you a point of reference for the future.

God loves you and He’s for you. And that’s all that really matters as you move on in life and hold on to the only Unchanging Hand in this world.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven

Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

Psalm 73:24 You guide me with Your counsel, and later receive me in glory.

About Rebekah Beene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”
