Can you ever remember as a kid saying “That’s enough” with regards to the things that occupied your day? Riding a bicycle, playing games and having fun with friends all seemed to go on forever and yet not long enough. As kids, most of us were outside from morning to night, with a short stop for lunch or a bathroom break in there somewhere. And if the weather proved that we couldn’t go outside, reading books was my favorite thing – and I never got tired of that either.
Oh beloved, in a world where plenty has been the theme for life, you may be feeling that you’ve about had enough. You’re ready to go inside and hide. The things you once thought were so much fun now seem far away. More than the weather keeps you inside. Lots of worrisome things in the world. Who wants to venture out in case of trouble anyway?
The Lord says this morning to all of us – if you belong to Me – I haven’t called you home yet. It’s not time for you to quit living. In fact, God wants to assure you that it’s His plan for you to live all the days of your life. Maybe you can’t run and play like a child anymore. But you have no need to fear the day. It’s a gift from God to you. Christ secured the way for you to enjoy the rewards of being a believer. Instead of worry, you get to pray. Instead of fear, you get to rejoice. Instead of questions, you have the Word of God. Whatever your favorite things were as a child, you now have all the favorite things of Christian faith at your fingertips. All the promises of God are your greatest read. And His Word, His promises, His Truth, His Laws – all these things will never make you tired. They are your energy for life.
God loves you and He’s for you. Praying this morning that you who are weary and tired of life will find renewal in the presence of the Lord. That you will ask Him to restore the joy in your heart. That He will remind you of all His blessings. So that you can be so full of hope and faith that you want to say “That’s enough! I can hardly hold anymore of you Lord!” And that you will shake off the fear as you live a life of daily renewal in Christ!
