TEACH – Five Minute Friday

TEACH…

First thing that comes to mind is when I was in Kindergarten in the early 60’s. There wasn’t public kindergarten yet, so I attended a private place, Little Red School House, not far from our home in Houston. One day when I came home my dad asked me if I had learned anything that day. I said, “No but I teached a little!”

Oh beloved, we are all teachers of some kind. We teach lots with our words and with our lives. There are things you and I need to teach that will benefit ourselves and others.

But what I am hearing today is the Lord reminding us:

It’s not our job to teach hate. But it comes naturally to human beings.

The news teaches us much. But we can’t find any wisdom in the smartest reports.

Even among believers, teaching is an obsession. “Teach you a lesson” as people try to prove what’s right and what’s wrong about everything. The loudest teacher gets the most attention.

Yet Jesus taught in both word and deed. But His heart of love for all humanity was evident in the ways He communicated with people. He even taught His disciples the model prayer, which revolved around Kingdom living.

God loves you and He’s for you. Let’s try to go back to teach the way we should teach. In love. In truth. In sincerity of heart. Run to the Father and ask Him to reveal where things need to change in your thought life. And ask Him to give you a clean heart and a right spirit. People need to know about Him and you can teach everywhere you go in the Light of His Glory and Grace.

John 8:31-32 Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Colossians 1:27-28 God has chosen you to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. We proclaim Him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ.

Matthew 7:28-29 When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching, because He taught as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law.

Join me and others over at Five Minute Friday, for our messages on the word TEACH.

About Rebekah Beene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”

Amen! It’s so important to remember what Jesus taught–not try to push our twisted interpretation of what we think he taught! We must be his humble students every day of our lives.
