Do You Get The Drift?

I have always enjoyed riding on the back of the motorcycle with my husband. I especially enjoy nice, smooth, straight roads. Unfortunately not all the roads we’ve ridden were like that. And unfortunately for me, my hubby has always enjoyed twisting curves and hills the most. I also enjoy 45 miles an hour the best. Unfortunately 45 miles an hour is not my hubby’s favorite speed, nor is it the average speed of any biker. I was also willing to try to learn how to ride a motorcycle myself, but each of the three times my hubby tried to teach me was a minor disaster. I don’t think I was made to ride independently.

Oh beloved, do you get the drift? Do you see what’s going on? We’re like me and motorcycles with our faith. We want good weather, calm conditions, smooth roads. And if we’re honest, many times we are more than willing to ride on our own through life.

But God says this morning, I AM that I AM. I brought you into this world, I offered you My life in exchange for your independence.

God wants you to know that you may want things your way. But the best way is to hang on as a passenger and trust Him through it all. Easier said than done. But listen, when the ride of life is over, you will want to be able to say that you followed God with your whole heart. You won’t want to look at the Lord and say you did it all yourself and you did things your way. There’s no blessing in independence from the God who created you. Your life is meant to be lived totally dependent on Him. Christ went to the cross to give you a 24/7 life in Himself. And Holy Spirit within you gives full rights to the Lord. You’re not the sum of the worst roads of your life. You are so loved, cherished, protected and blessed that even when bad things happen – you know that you are going to continue to travel with Him no matter what. No smoother ride than acknowledging you are not living life on your own!

God loves you and He’s for you. Let Him lead. Today is a good day to release your independence. Today is the best day to see what life with Christ in the driver’s seat is like. Then you can live, precious passenger, in the Light of His Best for your life!

Proverbs 3:6 In all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.

John 10:27 The sheep that are My own hear My voice and listen to Me; I know them, and they follow Me.

Isaiah 48:17 Thus says the Lord, Your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am the Lord your God, who teaches you to profit, who leads you by the way you should go”

Jeremiah 10:23 O Lord, I know the way of man is not in himself; it is not in man who walks to direct his own steps.

About Rebekah Beene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”
