Swimming In A Small Pool

I came across a picture of ducklings swimming in a kitchen sink. It is so cute! Those little yellow fuzzy babies seemed to be very content swimming in the small pool. But I immediately thought of the ducks we raised when I was young. They had a pond that my dad made that was so much bigger than that kitchen sink. Did those ducklings know they were missing out? Was that all they knew? What if they had the chance to swim in a real pond?

Oh beloved, God has a plan for your life. It’s way bigger than the plan you have for yourself. While we are often content to swim in our own little contained area of life, God wants to expand our areas. He has amazing plans for you. The plan is wonderful! But it might be out of your comfort zone. If you are willing you can ask Him to show you. And He will!

Beyond the little kitchen sink of life is a huge world for you. It’s the world of faith. And you need this bigger world right now more than ever. What you’ve gone through has made you want to stay completely out of the water and remain in the barn. But you weren’t made to live that way. This faith life will teach you how to do more than swim. It will teach you how to follow Jesus as He walks on water, calms the storms and rebukes the enemy for you. Your life has purpose beyond your pain. That purpose is to swim out of your confines and into God’s plan. It’s the place where your faith will grow into unprecedented proportions and you will outgrow the little spot you feel is your own. Beyond the gravity of situations, beyond the politics of people and the human thoughts that don’t line up with God’s Word. You won’t drown while you swim out in faith. You will flourish!

God loves you and He’s for you. Ask Him this morning to show you the depths of His love and care. Ask Him for fresh faith to enter in to His blessings and joy. And live, precious believer, in the wide open spaces where you will know that The Only Living God has made the way for liberty and blessings for you!

Matthew 8:23 When He got into the boat, His disciples followed Him.

John 12:26 If anyone serves Me, he must follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also; if anyone serves Me, the Father will honor him.

Luke 5:4 When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Now go out where it is deeper, and let down your nets…”

Deuteronomy 31:8 The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.

John 14:12 Truly, truly I say to you, the one who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do because I am going to the Father.

Romans 11:33 O, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments, and untraceable His ways!

About Rebekah Beene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”
