Cake decorating has been something I’ve done for many years. I started out decorating my own children’s birthday cakes. I also did cakes for extra money when the kids were little. I’ve loved making every one of them through the years. My cakes are not perfect, but they’ve always been very good tasting.
Oh beloved, this morning God speaks to our hearts. Don’t wait for perfection. Let God decorate your life. He says “taste and see that I AM good!” We will never have the perfect life in and of ourselves. We are the fallen. Without Christ, not one of us would make the cut. We’d be left on a shelf to be discarded later. We’ve been bought when we are born again. Our purchase wasn’t because we are worthy, good enough or faultless. It was all because of God’s merciful compassion.
God wants you to know that no matter how much you decorate and cover your life with worldly icing, it’s what’s inside that counts. Your life is sheer perfection to Him because of the Blood of Jesus that covers everything. And it does more. It changes the inside – and “from glory to glory He is changing us” This ongoing process is in His hands. I don’t just pour icing on a cake that comes together on its own. It’s a process – salvation, justification, regeneration and finally glorification. God knows your struggles to be perfect. But He says come to Him and let Him do what only He can do in your life – for apart from Christ you can do nothing. This is not condemnation, it’s refreshment! How wonderful to know that it is in the abiding that everything in Christianity comes together! You are being perfected and your life has meaning beyond yourself!
God loves you and He’s for you. He cheers your work of faith on. He holds your hand tightly when you get to the hard places. He shows you and gives you everything for life and godliness. Talk to Him this morning and wait for Him to reveal His best for you. And live in the Light of His mercy and grace each and every day!
