Shelter In Place

Another round of stormy weather came through our area. Before we went to bed, I had been watching the national weather service and saw tornado warnings west and south of us. Thankfully we didn’t have that bad weather. Just the same, whenever I hear thunder and see lightning in the night I always pray for safety for loved ones.

Storms are unavoidable. But we can be prepared and learn how to shelter in place every time.

Oh beloved, you can learn to sing in the rain! You can learn to dance in the light of the storms! You can excel in faith during the stormiest seasons you encounter!

God wants you to know this morning that storms are inevitable. You may not get to know ahead of time when one storm is coming, but you can know how to more than survive. This life is not home, but you can occupy and take territory for the Kingdom of God! Even stormy weather is under God’s Sovereign hand. He has never been indifferent to the earth’s weather nor your weather. He is not just causing storms to come and go and wreaking havoc because He is God. He is however keen on teaching His children, those who are born again in Christ, how to live through anything and everything.

You are being prepared, even now, to be an Ambassador of faith. It’s His job to keep you safe and teach you how to thrive in the storms and beyond. Your heart may quiver with the fear of storms. But you don’t have to allow brokenness to be your theme story. And as you learn to live in peace and joy during all storms of life, you will change from fearful, worried, confused human. You will become more and more the representative of God’s goodness and unfailing mercy. Your life is all about blessings in the waiting, courage in the testing and praise in the darkness!

God loves you and He’s for you. Not because you are perfect, but because you are in Christ! And because of your position of faith, you can predict how to respond when the storms arrive. Run to the King of Glory and ask Him for revelation for your life. And then live in the Light of His wonderful, peaceful, encouraging, enlightening ways!

Psalm 138:8 The LORD will accomplish that which concerns me; Your [unwavering] lovingkindness, O LORD, endures forever— Do not abandon the works of Your own hands.

Romans 8:29 For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters

2 Corinthians 4:6 For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made His light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

Romans 5:1-2 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.

About Rebekah Beene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”
