Yesterday I heard the Lord talking about crushing grapes for wine. Then I remembered the hilarious episode of I Love Lucy, where she and Ethel were crushing grapes in a huge vat. Turns out she almost died making the fight scene in the vat, after falling down into the crushed grapes. True story!
Oh beloved, we are the grapes and we are being crushed. It sounds awful doesn’t it? Someone’s old feet are stomping on us. But listen, precious believer, you aren’t just being crushed. The circumstances you are in a like a vat of grapes. During your “fight scenes” you may feel that you are going to suffocate.
But God has great plans. Without the crushing there will be no wine. And you beloved are God’s property. You are being made ready for the wine press. But beyond that, you are being made ready as the Lamb’s Bride! Fine wine you are! Perfected and preserved by Christ Himself! None of us likes the preparation. But God is teaching even in this season of crushing that He holds the future and He holds our lives, our very breath, in His hands.
God says survival depends on keeping your eyes on the Father.
Whatever your crushing situation is, it’s time to give it to Him. If you feel crushed by circumstances or you feel crushed by another’s circumstances, you have to give it all to God. He will take care of you and of others. If it’s someone you love, you can rest assured that God loves them even more than you do. If you have the opportunity to lift another with your words of comfort and hope, do so. Many times though, you just have to pray for them, in the Spirit and with your understanding. Remember always that Jesus is at the Father’s right hand making intercession for you. You will survive and you will be more beautiful in the end!
God loves you and He’s for you. While He might let the crushing go on in the vat far longer than you would, He won’t give up and He won’t loosen His hold. Run to Him this morning and thank Him IN the crushing. Praise Him in the vat. And live precious believer, as the faithful, perfected believer that you really are in Christ!
2 Corinthians 4:8-10 We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.
Romans 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or distress or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?
James 1:4 And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
2 Corinthians 3:18 But we all, with unveiled faces, looking as in a mirror at the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.
