The neighbor of one of our daughters has a new pup. He is profoundly deaf. He is so relaxed. While her was barking her head off, the new pup just remained aloof. In fact when the owner came over to retrieve the young dog, he had to get his attention by literally moving right in front of the dog.
God speaks to my heart this morning. The enemy speaks so loudly, barking all over the world, creating a scene everywhere he can. We need to turn a deaf ear to his tactics so that we can remain serene and be relaxed. And we are so very fortunate that when our owner, the Lord, comes to speak to us, He is willing to get right in front of us so we can see Him and follow Him.
Oh beloved, what’s got your attention this morning? What has you upset, tired out or done in? It’s time to turn a deaf ear – to anything that isn’t from the heart of the Father. Yes you are called to walk in this world, but you’re not called to bark your head off about everything. Serenity is the calling of all believers. It’s the best way to live. You don’t have to worry about what’s going on around you. Because God truly has the whole world in His hands. He isn’t distant nor is He unconcerned. He is right in the middle of the world’s situation, and He is right in the middle of yours as well. He didn’t create the world and leave it to work all its own troubles out. He is Sovereign and Ever Present. He cares. He hears. He is moving even now. He walks in front of His own to get their attention so that He can relieve, help, restore and refresh – even you. You aren’t the sum of your problems, you are the representative of God’s problem solving abilities.
God loves you and He’s for you. When things go wrong He will sweep you up into His arms and comfort you. When things go right He will reward you openly. And when all else fails, He will never fail. As you learn to turn a deaf ear to lies and confusion, you will learn to hear Him more clearly. And then you can live, even now, even in this season, in the Light of His wonderful care for you!
