Suddenly

Saul/Paul’s conversion story is an amazing message of the Suddenlies of The Lord…

Hubby had to go to work very early this morning. I am not fond of the dark, so I am eager to go back to my bedroom and wait for a little daylight to appear. Suddenly it will happen and I will enjoy the beautiful break of day. Before he left he opened his Bible as usual. This morning it was about Saul who persecuted the early church unmercifully. Scripture says Stephen was stoned and Saul was all for it. He was very good at what he did, take Christians prisoner and killing at will.

But suddenly God changed everything. In an instant Saul went from persecuting the Church to being a member of it. It was instantaneous. No long discourses on doctrine, personality or religion. This is what happened – “As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?” I am living proof of instant change – I was watching soap operas, Jesus came into my living room and everything changed.

Oh beloved, did you know? Have you heard? God is in the Suddenly business! He isn’t slowed down or cautious about anyone’s salvation. He is the Mover of Heaven and Earth. You are a believer because suddenly God sent His son to your heart personally. Maybe you didn’t persecute the Church, but you weren’t right with the Lord. Nobody has always been in the Church. There must be a Damascus Road experience for each and every person. God is able and no one is beyond His sudden touch!

God is saying this morning keep praying. God loves to suddenly and inexplicably change lives. These are the times when God has promised to pour out His Spirit on all. He has given you a heart soft for the things you once thought were stupid, unnecessary or invalid. Worthless things become so highly valued- prayer, faith, church, family. God is moving in the earth today. He’s not the author of the headlines. He doesn’t lie or skew the truth or manipulate the air waves. He isn’t bound by those things either. God is real. God is awake. God is going to have His way. This is a magnificent promise to hold onto for you – for you have been bought with a price and you are sent with a mission. You aren’t the sum of who you used to be. Your life has become brand new! You have gone from persecutor to ambassador! Glory to God!

Our God, the Only Living God, loves you! He’s for you in this hour, during this season and beyond. It’s time to walk in faith instead of fear. It’s time to recite the Word over the news. It’s time to ask God to give your loved ones real faith. And you can live in the Light even when it’s so very dark outside!

Acts 9:20-22 At once he began to preach in the synagogues that Jesus is the Son of God. All those who heard him were astonished and asked, “Isn’t he the man who raised havoc in Jerusalem among those who call on this name? And hasn’t he come here to take them as prisoners to the chief priests?” Yet Saul grew more and more powerful and baffled the Jews living in Damascus by proving that Jesus is the Messiah.

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

Philippians 1:6 And I am sure of this, that He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

About Rebekah Beene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”
