A Repentant Heart

Yesterday a couple of friends shared their favorite God stories in a social media group. Both shared about being young children and taking some small thing from a store. It brought back the flood of a memory for me about the same thing. I was maybe 4 years old and my friend was about 6. We were in the store with my mother and while she was shopping my friend and I were looking at the cart of small toys at the front of the store.

My friend said just pick one and we both did. And then we went to the car with our toys – mine was the magnetic beard and hair game – remember those? When my mother got to the car she saw what we had. I don’t remember what my friend had to do, but I do remember what I had to do. I had to go back into the store with my mother and give the toy to the manager along with an apology. Oh it was awful. I learned my lesson quickly. I never heard my mother tell that story on me – she left it alone and we moved on.

Oh beloved, this morning God wants you to know that He has great desires for you. He sees every move and all your plans. He wants to give you friendships, but He wants you to follow Him first. He also wants you to have a repentant heart so that you can stay in close fellowship with Him. And He wants you to know He never brings your past mistakes up. He loves it when you and I learn our lessons quickly.

And He says the greatest lesson you will ever learn is that abiding is your safest place. It will literally keep you from straying away from obedience. You don’t obey God to be good. Jesus has come to take the stony heart from you so that you walk in submission by virtue of the Greater within you. Nothing is worth losing His favor. You are stronger and more powerful than you can imagine. Within you is the ability to say no to wrong and yes to God. You may have been taught that you will always be your worst mistake – but mistakes don’t define a believer. You are defined by the Grace and Mercy of God alone!

God loves you and He’s for you. No greater love! No better covering! No more wondrous way of living! Learn to yield to His favor by walking closer to Him than any other person on earth. Run to the Lord this morning and ask Him to give you deeper insight as you seek His face and dig into His Word. And walk free beloved, in the purpose, anointing and calling of His love for your life!

Galatians 2:20 My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.

Romans 3:22 And this righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe.

Romans 6:16 Don’t you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living.

Romans 8:37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

Romans 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

2 Corinthians 5:19 that God was reconciling the world to Himself in Christ, not counting men’s trespasses against them. And He has committed to us the message of reconciliation.

About Rebekah Beene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”
