We are facing a severe flooding issue in our state. Although it hasn’t rained in several days, the waters from floods in the states north and west of us are coming through this weekend. We are going to be inundated with it. The Arkansas River is slated to overflow its banks in record high numbers. For our farmers in this state, the rains have made it so hard to sow the crops. And without sowing there’s no hope of reaping. It’s a pretty negative situation right now.
God says you reap what you sow. But listen, beloved, this is not always negative in the Spirit.
Oh beloved, whatever you’ve been sowing now is the time to stop and take stock of the seed you carry. Whatever seed you carry is what you’re destined to sow. And what you sow you will reap.
God says start sowing My seeds and discard your own. The seeds of faith come from the Lord. It’s a bounteous supply of overflowing, lively, germinating seeds! The seeds most of us try to carry are hardship, heartbreak or regret. The seeds many of you have carried are anger, animosity and frustration. When you sow to the hardship you just get more hardship. When you sow to the heartbreak only more heartbreak will shoot forth. When you keep picking up the regrets, all you get is more regrets. Throw out those seeds of anger and any seed that doesn’t line up with God’s Word. They will only cause you more trouble. Ask a farmer – he’s not planting thistle seeds or thorns or useless crops. He sows good seed on prepared ground and he expects a good crop!
God says change your outlook, change the seed and you will change the outcome. This is for all of us. We fall into the trap of focusing on our troubles and pretty soon we only see trouble. But through our God we can learn to be better farmers and sow to the Lord, sow the Word and sow faith! I don’t know about you but I’ve been asking God for a double crop of faith and the evidence of it!
God loves you and He’s for you. All you need for sowing and reaping He has given to you. Lay aside the weighty seeds that won’t grow a thing. Run to the Father and ask Him for fresh items to sow. And receive fresh harvest from Him! And then live a life of sowing and reaping faith, hope, love and more as you walk the fields God gives you and abound in His blessings all the way!
