Yesterday as I was driving home I noticed a couple of guys washing the siding on a local dentist’s office. They had to stand in the street a bit because the building is right on the sidewalk. I also noticed that one of the guys kept watching me. He was probably wary of being hit by a car driving by. I drove slowly and went over into the other lane as I drove by. He sort of smiled and waved. That was a sign of relief. I smiled and waved back. And then I was saddened by the fact that what I did was a surprise to him. He was expecting one thing and got another.
Oh beloved, God wants you to know this morning that you are driving home. Home to heaven. But on the meantime, there is much that tries to be in your way. And you have to navigate through stuff. Your only choice to avoid things in life that might cause you trouble is to avoid life altogether. And trust me, there have been times I wanted to do just that. But we women of faith keep driving on. We keep pushing through. We keep moving from day to day, knowing that God has us here for a purpose even when we’re not sure what that purpose is.
God wants you to know you’ve got to quit being afraid. You’ve got to discontinue the diatribe of fear that wants to keep you off the road. You have said I can’t do it so many times, but look beloved, you are still making it, having survived 100% of your days so far! This is huge! It’s time to stop the negative self-talk. You need to stop crying about what you keep looking in the rear view mirror at. It’s gone. You’ve been sorry – so very sorry about things that you can do nothing about. But it’s time to let it go. You are bringing up things that God doesn’t even remember! It’s a blessing to be alive because that shows you God still has confidence in your life – to have meaning, purpose and ministry. Stop expecting the worst, God wants to give you the best. He is the One who empowers you to do excellently in all your ways. If only’s need to go too – they are lies from the pit of hell that keep you stuck in the rut when you need to be out on the highway! Smile at yourself, do the hard thing you can’t do – start it today. And tomorrow you will have done it and it’s no longer hard!
God loves you and He’s for you. Like filling up your gas tank for free! It’s time to run to the Father and ask Him to pour more wisdom, power and love into your mind. Then rise up, wash your face, throw out the trash in your back seat – pain of yesterday, regrets of past, fear of future – whatever trash you have. And then live with the fresh start of one who relies on God and always takes care to live in the Light of His Glory and Grace!
Galatians 4:3-5 And that’s the way it was with us before Christ came. We were like children; we were slaves to the basic spiritual principles of this world. But when the right time came, God sent his Son, born of a woman, subject to the law. God sent him to buy freedom for us who were slaves to the law, so that he could adopt us as his very own children.
Isaiah 43:18 Do not call to mind the former things, Or ponder things of the past.
Philippians 4:13-14 …but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.
Colossians 3:2 – Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
Ephesians 4:23-24 Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. Put on your new nature, created to be like God–truly righteous and holy.
