Rarely does my morning alarm wake me. It’s because I am almost always awake just waiting for the alarm to go off.
What kind of alarm do you have?
Oh beloved, I don’t know all about your life, but I know God promises that alarms in life are meant to awaken not startle. As a believer we aren’t even supposed to be alarmed by life. But there are things that will bring us great concern and if we aren’t careful we will live an alarmed life. Worried, upset, distressed, startled and fearful. While you can’t stop things from happening that would cause alarm, you can combat the distress by awakening your mind to what God says. When alarms go off you have to silence them with the Word of God. Just as the Psalmist said “in my alarm I am cut off from You!” he also gathered His spiritual wits about him and spoke the truth, “Yet You heard my cry for help”. Being panicked never helps a single situation. And just as you prepare your alarm for morning the night before, you too prepare your heart and mind by knowing the Word of God before the alarms go off in your life. Fear is indeed a liar. So is worry, distress, and panic.
God wants you to know that before your alarms went off He was awake and watching over you. He says that He will show you His lovingkindness even when your whole life seems under siege. He isn’t just the God of heaven and someday. He is the Lord of today and He always redeems your life from the pit, always makes a way where there seems to be no way and always comforts your heart in affliction. Nothing that comes against you can stand because you have the armor of God, from head to toe. Your born again mind was recreated to trust in the Lord and wake up in peace in spite of the alarms of life. You aren’t a startled panicker, you are a trusting praiser!
God loves you and He’s for you. Relax in His love. Rest in His comfort. Go to Him first for everything. He is the Perfect Father – who will always come to your aid and give you His Word to rely on. And then when the alarms come you can rely on the truth that your life is safe in the arms of Jesus every single day and live in the power of Holy Spirit no matter what!

Psalm 31:22 In my alarm I said, “I am cut off from Your sight!” Yet You heard my cry for mercy when I called to You for help.
Romans 15:33 The God of peace be with all of you. Amen.
2 Corinthians 1:20 For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God.
