This wall building has been a real workout for several days. Last night we sat the last of the timbers. The wall is pretty much complete. For two folks in their 60’s I think we’ve done a pretty outstanding job. And since I joined an Arkansas walking team, this week has given us some huge numbers due to this endeavor.
I did notice that my husband, who you remember had a stroke just 16 months ago, has regained and recovered quite well. He has gained stamina back and he can work heavy equipment and all the rest without getting winded. I also noticed yesterday evening that he rarely takes a break. I on the other hand take mini breaks in between most everything we do. We both work, just at different levels of endurance.
Oh beloved, God speaks to my heart – don’t compare your walk with anyone else. You are walking for Me. Your work of faith is not a competition with a single other person on this earth. Comparison is a thief – it will steal your joy and your confidence. God is the one who has called you. He is the one who fashioned you as the person you are. The way to win this race of faith is to stay connected to the Lord. If you need rest, take it. There is no need to experience burn out in your faith walk. You are built by Holy Spirit to last the entire way – endurance is a gift. As you walk with your eyes on Jesus, you will keep in mind that He alone is the Author and Finisher of your faith. Whatever He gives you to do, do it heartily, as unto Him. Your purpose and strength are found completely in your relationship with the One Who loves you and has a plan for your life that is perfect for you.
God loves you and He’s for you. Run to Him this morning and ask Him for His strength. Ask Him for His rest. Ask Him to give you fresh fire for the tasks ahead. And live for Him alone in the Light of His wonderful gifts!
