Storm Brewing – Saturday June 23rd

As I sit here this morning there is a storm brewing. I hear the wind howling and the distant thunder. It will be right here on us soon. We are so dry that a nice downpour would be wonderful, but I don’t look forward to the possibility of damaging weather.

Oh beloved, you didn’t ask for stormy weather but you got it nonetheless. You can hear the distant rumble of trouble and you’d like to just avoid it altogether. You’ve been hit before. And it wasn’t pleasant. Haven’t you had enough?

The Lord wants you to know that He rides above the storm. He says it’s time to relax. Impossible I know. Except that you are not a storm victim, but a victor in Christ. Over and over you’ve weathered things that nobody wants to go through. But within you is brewing a new strength that will overcome everything. It’s not time to cower in fear or try to run from anything. It’s time to take a stand and look at your King. He is not afraid, intimidated or even concerned with the things you face. Because He is above the storm He intends to set you on high with Him. So you become a surveyor rather than a participant in the tempest. You have the Word within you and it is your weather map – as you remind yourself of God’s truth the fear will roll away like the clouds. When this storm is over others will enlist your help because your testimony will reach far and wide – the testimony that God reigns over all the earth and gives strength to His own!

God loves you and He’s for you. Remember, precious one, that you are His and His great Holy Spirit resides within you. No longer will you fear the reports, watch for the worst or hope you survive. No, you are going to praise the Lord, watch His Word and live in the Light of His overcoming plans for your wonderful, blessed and thriving life.

2 Peter 2:9 So you see, the Lord knows how to rescue godly people from their trials, even while keeping the wicked under punishment until the day of final judgment.

Isaiah 25:4 But you are a tower of refuge to the poor, O LORD, a tower of refuge to the needy in distress. You are a refuge from the storm and a shelter from the heat.

Matthew 7:24-25 Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock.

Psalm 100:4 Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and bless His name.

About Rebekah Beene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”
