Labor of Love

people-2575362_960_720Thinking this morning about the births of our three children. Each time the event got just a little faster. One reason we stopped at three was because the third one was almost born in the car! None of the labors were easy but they were quick.

Ah, I find myself at times hoping that the labor of my prayers will be just as quick as those birthing labors of my babies. Come on God, let’s get this going. I find myself cheering God on in a way. You can do it Lord! You are able to instantly answer these prayers. Why hasn’t it already happened?

Oh beloved, you are in a labor of love when you pray. Whether it’s laboring for the souls of your babies, who sometimes grow up and leave God behind. Or laboring for the conditions of your spouse, your family members, your loved ones. It’s laborious – arduous and difficult. We just want to step into the throne room like going to a fast food joint – two answers to prayer to go please and make it quick.

But God sees your pain – your desire to move heaven and earth. He is not going to condemn you for your urgency. But He sees a bigger picture. He is right on time. He is working with more than you can see. And His will works through both your prayers and the response of those you pray for.
He says this morning – never stop praying. Keep talking to Him about the situation until you see the breakthrough. And while you are laboring in prayer, you are birthing more than the answers. You are birthing a new level of intimacy with the Lord and a new trust in the Father. You are moving up into the heavenly realm and just as Moses came back changed, you too are being changed. It’s a glorious thing to labor in prayer, agonize in love and live in the Throne Room of Faith. Answers will come, beloved, but you are learning to lean in, trust and rely on the King more than you ever have before. You are building spiritual armor and learning to wield the sword of the Spirit over all your domain. It is glorious!

God loves you and He’s for you. He invites you to banquet with Him, beseech His blessings, and walk in His favor. You are instructed to command the kingdom of darkness to loosen its hold on your loved ones and wait for the proof of your prayers. In all this, you are running to Him and living securely in the labor room of prayer where you find peace, hope and rest as you live in the Light of His Presence always.

Matthew 21:22 And all things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.

John 15:7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.

James 5:16 …The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.

Luke 18:1 One day Jesus told his disciples a story to show that they should always pray and never give up.

Philippians 4:6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

About rebekahbeene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”

Amen to this! And I had precipitous labor, too! The fourth baby was a surprise blessing, and i was only in the delivery room for nine minutes before she was born! #TeaAndWord
