Choices!

choose_me_lordI am so not good at making choices. I mean horrible at it sometimes. When it comes to restaurants, I want to know what everyone else is getting first, in case something they get sounds more appealing than what I’m TRYING to choose. I don’t like choosing furniture or Bibles. Opposite spectrum but that’s how it is. I study, study and over study everything. Maybe I’m more paralyzed with the thought of not liking my choices. When I choose I am responsible for that choice. Ugh, isn’t it sometimes easier to just let someone make choices for you? Funny thing though, I had no problem choosing Danny for myself – and I chose quickly lol. And it’s a choice I still make every single day.

As I was thinking about choices yesterday afternoon I heard God speak: Even when we have a hard time making choices, God never quits choosing us.

He says “I choose you” every day.

Oh beloved, have you heard Him say that to you? Do you know He feels that way? When you’re unsure of your choices, unsure of yourself even, He still chooses you. That choice He made at the cross still stands. And the choice you made at the altar of your heart was a response to the greatest love story ever told. He is more betrothed to you than earthly loves. Scripture refers to Him as your husband – this means He is over you with love, He is caring for you with love and He is committed to you with His love. When important choices come you don’t have to wring your hands or hope you do the right thing. All you have to do is roll your cares onto Him. You have the mind of Christ, so while in the flesh it may seem impossible to choose, in the Spirit you have access to the right choices every time. And you can hear His still small Voice speak. You have His Word which is His bond. Life’s insecurities, uncertainties, and decision-making problems are covered. No need to be desperate for God stills your heart as you make each plan known to Him and defer to Him to guide you, lead you and bless you. He understands that some choices are so life changing that you falter in fear. Even when you feel disappointed with your choices you are covered by Love. He always loves you, cares for you and returns you into His will each time you stray – just like sheep. No excuse to make wrong decisions, but the enemy would have you believe you can’t return to your King, but oh beloved, you can always return. Aren’t you and I blessed?

God loves you and He’s for you. Old message, often repeated. But desperately good news! Run to the Lord this morning and ask Him to help you decide, reside and absorb His love. Ask Him to teach you to Trust Him more than yourself. And thank Him that He is your abiding Presence for decision making. And praise Him that you can live in the Light of His wonderful ways and amazing grace!

Isaiah 53:6 All of us, like sheep, have strayed away. We have left God’s paths to follow our own. Yet the LORD laid on Him the sins of us all.

James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you

Proverbs 2:6 For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth comes knowledge and understanding.

Psalm 19:8 The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes

Isaiah 48:17 Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel, “I am the LORD your God, who teaches you to profit, who leads you in the way you should go.”

About rebekahbeene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”
