Prayer – The Final Frontier

Prayer – the Final Frontier

For some reason I was wide awake in the night last night. Could be the weather. I checked my weather app and the temperature had gone up instead of down. Since I was awake I decided to pray. There was a special prayer request I have for the Lord and I began to talk to Him about it. I am sincerely not sure what to pray exactly – having prayed for a long time for this particular situation. I mean a long time.

I heard the Father say – Even when you don’t know what to pray you can lift them up to me.

Prayer is your best opportunity to build relationship with God. Why is it so often it appears to be a final frontier? A place so rarely visited? Some of us are taught to pray from childhood. But truthfully I wasn’t taught to talk to the Father in intimate conversation. Lots of us lived in homes where we blessed meals, prayed before trips (kinda but that’s another story) and said the Lord’s prayer. But reciting things doesn’t mean we’re talking to the Lord does it?

Oh beloved, God wants you to know this morning that He hears your heart cries. He understands your pain. You want answers. He wants conversation with you about everything. He is read, willing and more than able to answer prayers immediately, without hesitation. But there is more going on than just recitation and receiving. Even if you don’t know what to pray, God wants to hear from you. He needs you to know that you need Him. Not just His Word, but His presence. He wants you to know that praising Him when you don’t see answers is your battle cry of trust. He wants you to know that lifting people, situations and yourself to Him when there are no words is beautiful in His sight. And He wants you to know that He’s changing you in the midst of the wait. He wants you to pray His Word back to Him for He delights in His Word and He wants you to delight in it as well. But He wants a personal, up close, quiet time with you.

Regarding those people you pray for – He loves them more than you do. Regarding asking Him to speak to their hearts – He’s already wooing them. Pray that they receive Him, that they listen to the Spirit’s call, that they respond to Him.

God loves you and He’s for you always. This thing called prayer should be renamed – battle. For there is a vast army that is coming against every word you breathe to the Father. But don’t be dismayed, for God is greater than that army and He is greater than your weakest prayers. Keep seeking His face and keep handing it all to Him, daily, hourly, whenever you have it or them on your mind. And know that you can live with faith, wait in trust and enjoy fellowship with the Lord any hour, anywhere you may be. Let’s resolve to take prayer from the Final Frontier to the First Landing as we live in the Light of the privilege to talk to the King of the Universe about it all.

2 Chronicles 20:12 O our God, will You not judge them? For we are powerless before this great multitude who are coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are on You.

Isaiah 55:6 Seek the LORD while you can find him. Call on him now while He is near.

Isaiah 26:9 At night my soul longs for You, Indeed, my spirit within me seeks You diligently…

Psalm 27:8 My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk with me.” And my heart responds, “LORD, I am coming.”

About rebekahbeene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”
