I needed to clean the mirror before I could put my makeup on. Unfortunately I was in a hurry and the glass cleaner was downstairs. So, I tried to clean it with bathroom foam. It cleaned the spots off the mirror but left a film that obscured my reflection. I still managed to put on my makeup but what I saw in the mirror wasn’t clear.
We all need clean mirrors don’t we? We also need a clean view of ourselves as believers. Being wiped clean through the gift of Christ everything is perfect. But when we try to clean up our reflection by anything other than Christ we’re going to have a film that obscures the truth. Never can we go through the worldly motions of cleaning what we see. We will always live with a filmy haze over our lives unless we apply Christ to everything. It’s not our excuse to live wrong or reflect the world, it is our reason for being able to reflect Christ and live right.
Oh beloved, God wants you to know this morning. You are beautiful and perfected in Christ. What you see in the mirror may be flawed, but what God views through Christ is absolutely beautiful. The more we focus on our perfect God, the more transformed our lives become. You can’t just clean up your act or put makeup on to cover your flaws. That requires you to do something and to try to keep doing that to be acceptable. God has given you His path and that requires the clean swipe of Christ and the indwelling of Holy Spirit.
Clean from the inside out is who you are destined to be. You can’t just find your perfect self, you must discover who God created you to be. And that starts with Christ. What a relief to know that you are accepted in the beloved because Christ has wiped your life clean. Your identity is no longer in your sin, and all have sinned and come short of God’s glory. Your identity is now in your Savior. You can quit rushing here and there for perfection. You can face yourself in the mirror because you rely on Christ instead of yourself. This is your finest hour – to believe Christ, to live in His clear view and to walk in His forgiveness and mercy, every day of your life. What you see in the mirror is a reflection of what you know. Learn to wake up every morning seeing your benefits. Expected it to be loaded with the benefits of who you are in Christ, those that God has prepared just for you!
God loves you and He’s for you. Do you see that in the mirror? God says beloved, Christ says redeemed and Holy Spirit says sealed. Run to Him this morning and let Him show you what He sees. And live His truth beloved as you keep your eyes on Jesus in the mirror and everywhere you go!
2 Corinthians 3:18 And all of us, as with unveiled face, [because we] continued to behold [in the Word of God] as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are constantly being transfigured into His very own image in ever increasing splendor and from one degree of glory to another; [for this comes] from the Lord [Who is] the Spirit.
