I’m an early riser. Generally nothing is stirring when I get up. This morning as I began to type I heard a quiet knock at our door. I immediately went back upstairs and woke my hubby up. He came downstairs and the two of us checked both front and back doors. This is the kind of thing that happens when I’m so thankful I don’t live alone. You can just call me a chicken, but once hubby was awake and with me I found courage to look out both doors. He figured most likely a neighborhood dog, which we often have on our back deck. I was relieved. I would have been content to stay upstairs locked in our bedroom. But really, I wanted to know if there was someone/something at our door.
Oh beloved, God speaks to my heart and He wants to speak to yours as well. Maybe there’s been no knock at your door that frightened you. But life can be oh so frightening. The enemy will cast fear out like a world class illusionist. There will be times you’ll just want to retreat from life and lock yourself away. Fear can be so real that it controls everything. But God is not the author of fear. And each of us can immediately take Him by the hand and walk with Him into the unknown. He never sleeps and He is always aware of our surroundings and our situations. You, beloved, are totally protected and cared for. You, precious one, are surrounded by the heavenly host. God’s protection doesn’t come and go. It’s steady, immovable and ever present.
The Lord also wants you to know that your destiny lies beyond the fears of your life. And He will walk you all the way. Don’t worry about what’s behind you, for His Word says goodness and mercy are there. Don’t spend all your time trying to protect yourself, for you have life to live and that life is a gift from God.
God loves you and He’s for you. His hand is on you and He is with you everywhere, through everything and in spite of the fear that knock at your door. Run to Him this morning and ask Him to keep you safe as you walk triumphantly into your unknown future with the Only Living God.
