As I sat on the side of the bed one morning recently I was talking to God. And I was praying for some things that have been heavy on my heart these days. I was not feeling so great and I was expressing my despondence to the Lord. After I got through talking to God about things, I went to get ready for work. It was then I heard the word Mulligrub drop into my mind. Then God spoke.

Today you have miracles. You’re waiting for other miracles. But if you aren’t careful you will live in the waiting for other miracles and miss the joy of the everyday miracles I give you. You woke up. Danny woke up. You greeted one another with a heartfelt good morning. Both of you were able to rise and have coffee and enjoy the day. That’s a miracle. Don’t be so focused on future miracles that you don’t enjoy today’s. That’s when you get the mulligrubs. You don’t want to live life blue and despondent because something hasn’t happened yet. Keep praying but enjoy today and its miracles I have given you.

Oh beloved, God says keep praying! But enjoy this day, because each and every one of them is a gift, a miracle, from God. Everything may not be perfect, but you are handed this day gifted to you to use with joy and faith. The future isn’t yours to live for and the past cannot help you live for today either. But today is a fresh, clean slate to love your spouse, enjoy your vocation, reset your emotions and enjoy!
God also wants you to know that He knows everything about what you are praying about. He isn’t held back by anything or anyone, but He has His timing for everything. Trust Him. Thank Him. A grateful heart for today gives you greater joy and abundant peace. You belong to the Lord, you’ve been saved by the Son and you are redeemed with Holy Spirit indwelling. Your day is not subject to your woes or your feelings. You were meant to live abundantly free of sorrow, worry, fear and dread. So kick them to the curb, get rid of those mulligrubs and move into this day with expectation and hope!

God loves you and He’s for you. Simple words but amazing truth. Run to Him this morning and let Him show you what miracles are occurring right now. And live this day in the Light of His Glory and Grace!

Psalm 43:5 Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again–my Savior and my God!

Psalm 118:24 This is the day the LORD has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.

John 15:11 I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow!

Romans 15:13 I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in Him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.

About rebekahbeene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”

Great word, “mulligrubs”. I am studying Romans and chapter 8 is a wonderful tonic. God loves us! With you I am going to try to remember the miracles that we experience each day!
