My life for the past 44 years has been anything but simple.  And the last 8 months has been super complicated. But we are mending and my hubby is probably going back to work within the month, so life is good.

Simplify?  We are trying our best to do that. When hubby got sick I had to immediately simplify some things.  Here’s where I did that:

  1. Relationships – had to cut out the drama. I mean love of my life was sick and I no longer had time to deal with others’ drama. Simplified.
  2. Finances – immediate loss of 15K in retirement part time job. So, definitely we had to cut out the extras. But you know what? Since focus became on the two of us surviving this mess, simplified living was just part of that.
  3. Fellowship – There were the comers and the goers.  God bless both sets. We found new fellowship with people who just stepped up to help. We also found renewed fellowship through friends that stuck with us through thick and thin. Awesome! Don’t worry so much about who is around. Let God bring the right ones at the right time.

Oh beloved, when you let God simplify your life you will also be given bonuses – peace, joy, rest, renewal and more!  Trust the Lord, live for Jesus and enjoy the simplified life!

So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.  Colossians 2:6

But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that.  1 Timothy 6:6-8

About rebekahbeene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”

Lovely post, Rebekah! My favourite takeaway is this: “when you let God simplify your life you will also be given bonuses – peace, joy, rest, renewal and more!” Amen! 🙂
