Too Good To Be True

Danny and I had an outing to Hot Springs yesterday. My glasses needed to be adjusted so we visited our optometrist’s office. Then we went to eat lunch. Finally, we found ourselves at the local discount super store. You need a membership card to buy things there and we had an outdated one. It got us in the door. While we were there we found something we thought we needed to buy. And we were looking at another item with the idea of purchasing it as well. We were pretty happy shopping. And then a woman stopped to let us know they were running a special on a Super Discount Store Mastercard. With this special card we would get $30 off our purchases and we could use the card many other places besides the Super Discount Store. It was just too good to be true. We told her we’d think about it and she walked on to the next person. We did think about it! We unloaded our basket and walked out! We’ve already had credit cards and we know they aren’t ideal for us. We sure didn’t need another one. For us it was a signal to run not walk away. Ended up saving us a couple of hundred dollars.

Oh beloved, it’s time to remind yourself that in Christ you are loved, provided for, cherished, redeemed, blessed and cared about. You also need to remind yourself that the enemy will bring you ideas/plans/messages that are too good to be true. It will seem like you just ought to. But you know in your heart what to do with His plans. Run! It’s time to cultivate a better way – by leaning on Him and relying on His Spirit to speak to your heart and lead you through life. It is credit cards for us. It may be something different for you. But God has His Word to guide us – and He reminds us in I John that everything in the world–the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life–comes not from the Father but from the world. He also promises His children that He will provide all our needs.

Can you trust Him? Will you let Him lead you? Your destiny is not to make decisions that will lead you away from God. Your destiny is to walk in obedience, just as Christ did, and to trust the Lord for your spiritual, emotional, financial and physical needs. He will provide!

God loves you and He’s for you. What an amazing New Year’s Resolution for His children that we decide to make 2018 the best year ever by listening to Him, relying on Him and living for Him! Rest assured that if you’ve failed in the past to listen, His mercies are new every morning for you. Remind yourself of God’s promises, walk away from the temptations you face and live in the Light of His Wonder Working Power for your life!

2 Corinthians 9:8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things, at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.

Ephesians 2:2 You used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil–the commander of the powers in the unseen world. He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God.

Isaiah 26:4 Trust in the LORD forever, For in GOD the LORD, we have an everlasting Rock.

Psalm 37:23 The LORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.

About rebekahbeene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”
