Well Done

As I stepped out of my office to head home I placed two drink containers in the large red trash can outside the door. As I did I spied one of those decorated rocks on the ledge. Quickly I picked it up. On the blue pained and flower dotted surface were the words “well done”. Honestly I felt as though I had received a message from heaven. I wonder at times if I’ve done anything well. And out of the blue was a lovely little rock message.

Oh beloved, aren’t we blessed? We who are in Christ have the most wonderful Rock – Jesus! The Lord doesn’t speak to us like an angry despot. To be sure He desires that we live a life that pleases Him and follows His way. But He doesn’t threaten to wipe us out at every turn. His ways are so much higher than our ways. When we’re ready to turn on ourselves and speak blame, criticism and disapproval over ourselves He comes to our hearts and speaks encouragement even in the midst of our mistakes. He may disapprove at times but He doesn’t condemn. He may convict us of wrong but He doesn’t shout threats. He may ask us to own up to our mistakes but He never withdraws His mercy or His grace.

God will use even the harshest of times to gather us to Himself. He will use the most barren places of the heart to cause us to re-evaluate our lives and turn to Him with a more determined heart. He uses all things to teach us to want most and seek most what we need most – Him.

To you who are living with the criticism of your own self talk or the harsh words of another – God wants you to know this morning that there is no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus. He says it’s time to stop beating yourself up and start living in the Shadow of the only One who really matters. The enemy delights in your harsh evaluation of yourself. God delights in your acknowledgement that while you are nothing without Him you are the perfect representation of His glory when you rely on His Words for your worth. This is not the time to give up on yourself. This is the time to repent if needs be and allow His mercy to wipe the tears of self-hate away. And this is the time to stand tall in your God given call to be His daughter of Zion and His blessing to the world.

God loves you and He’s for you. Let Him do both. Don’t hold Him back. Rest in His promises and live like the born again child of God you have been called to be. Live fully alive in the knowledge of His wonderful mercy and grace!

Philippians 3:14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

Hebrews 10:35 So do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it brings you!

Romans 8:1 Therefore there is now no condemnation [no guilty verdict, no punishment] for those who are in Christ Jesus [who believe in Him as personal Lord and Savior]. AMP

Ephesians 1:5 …[in His love] He chose us in Christ [actually selected us for Himself as His own] before the foundation of the world, so that we would be holy [that is, consecrated, set apart for Him, purpose-driven] and blameless in His sight. AMP

About rebekahbeene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”
