How’s Your Weather?

We are sweltering where we live. Yesterday’s heat index on my weather app showed 109 degrees. It’s so hot and humid in Arkansas that it’s hard to breathe outside. But one of our dear friends posted a picture of approaching snow clouds across the lake where they live. Snow? Well they are on the other side of the world. In Australia they are experiencing the beginning of winter! Watching her weather can make me jealous right now! I am just hoping for an overcast day and a little rain!

Oh beloved, as you look at others’ lives in this season you are in there is that tendency to become envious. They have what you don’t have. That’s not fair. But beloved their season carries with it their own hardships. The comparison game will leave you pessimistic. And that will get you in the pit. The struggles you experience here and now are real but your God is more real! He hasn’t allowed this season of heat and oppression without caring about you. No, He is preparing you for greater seasons. He is using what you’re going through to teach you that you are more than your situation, you are stronger than your weakest moments and you are going to traverse into the next season with Him!

God loves you and He’s for you. Let that settle into your heart and mind. Allow your soul to linger there. Stop comparing. Stop complaining. Stop questioning. Your life is changing for the better if you will just hold on until this time passes. And give thanks now for what’s on the way. And live the joyful life no matter what as you walk in faith and hold God’s hand through it all!

John 15:5 If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit…

Deuteronomy 28:12 The LORD will send rain at the proper time from His rich treasury in the heavens and will bless all the work you do…

Psalm 40:2 He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along.

Psalm 42:1 As the deer longs for streams of water, so I long for you, O God.

About Rebekah Beene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”
