To Know the Lord

There is this fascination with knowing my ancestors that results from never really knowing anything about anyone beyond my grandfather Warren. So imagine my delight when I recently found a family tree with Warrens several generations back! Not only that, I found a very distant living cousin as well. I still don’t know about those who came before me. I just know their names. I could spend much time trying to glean more information but I’m quite happy to know that my grandfather had a grandfather and I know his name. I don’t know them – but I know something about them. I have no inheritance from them and gain no personal benefit from them. I just know their names.

Oh beloved, as you look at your earthly family tree, you may not see everything you like and you may not know many generations personally. You can spend your whole life searching, researching, filing and gleaning information, but you will never know them personally. It’s alright though because you can know about your ancestry of faith. You can know all about the God who saved you. You don’t just have to know about Him, you can know Him personally. It’s in the learning to know Him that you will experience your greatest fulfillment. There is a great inheritance of the faith that is yours. And as you learn the names of the Lord – Savior, King, Lover of your soul, Sovereign One, Healer, Redeemer, Banner, Friend – you will find yourself full of wonder at all He is!

God wants you to know this morning that He is the Great I AM. He has poured out His truth for you to partake of, pour yourself into and live for always. He wants you to know about yourself as well. You are redeemed, you are chosen, you are a joint heir with Jesus. As an heir you have access to everything regarding your Heavenly Father! You’ve been chosen for this generation to see what God is doing in the earth today and participate. You’ve been chosen to know the fullness of the Lord – and to live in that light. Your destiny is not in your past – your destiny is in today! When Jesus went to the cross and rose from the grave He set His seal upon you – giving you permanent, eternal access to everything.
God loves you and He’s for you! Stop looking back at who you were. Stop allowing shame to shape your heart. Allow the Lord to pour His lavish inheritance into you as you learn to love yourself the way He loves you. Give Him glory and honor as you live in the Light of who you are in Christ!

Job 42:5 I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear; But now my eye sees You.

Ephesians 1:7-8 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace which He lavished on us…

John 17:3 This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.

Hosea 6:3 So let us know, let us press on to know the LORD. His going forth is as certain as the dawn; And He will come to us like the rain, like the spring rain watering the earth.

About rebekahbeene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”
