Imperfections

Our daughters still dye eggs with their kids for our family Easter egg hunt. As I talk with our seven year old grandson, he tells me about the hunt at church. And he eagerly tells me that the empty eggs they find tell a story about Jesus – that the empty eggs represent the empty tomb where Jesus was buried but He rose again!

The eggs died by this little brother and his siblings turned out different this year. Almost like they were tie dyed. For some reason the color didn’t stay on all of them. It slid around and made strange patterns. They turned out like they were marbleized. Not perfect but still useful.

Oh beloved, God speaks through those streaky eggs this morning. The Lord wants you and I both to know that He’s not looking for the perfect person. Our imperfections don’t scare Him nor do they repulse Him. He embraced all our imperfections at the Cross and He went willingly for each one.

You may be sure this morning as you wake up that imperfection is equal to uselessness. But God chose you and He makes you useful for the Kingdom! It’s His blood, shed on the cross, His walk through hell for you and rising out of death on your behalf that causes you, imperfections and all, to be perfect for Him. He doesn’t look you over and check you out to reject or accept you. Neither your best conduct or your worst moments make you fit or unfit. It’s Christ in you that changes you and everything else.

God loves you and He’s for you! Repeat that as often as you need in order to believe it. Run to Him this morning and hide nothing as you speak to Him about life and usefulness. Then thank Him as you walk out of fear of rejection and into His glorious plan for your life!

2 Corinthians 12:9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. NIV

Hebrews 10:14 For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified.

Galatians 3:3 Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh?

Ephesians 1:6 So we praise God for the glorious grace He has poured out on us who belong to His dear Son.

About rebekahbeene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”
