As a car approached from the right lane I was surprised. We were in town not the interstate. Yet he drove speedily, weaving his way recklessly through the traffic. It wasn’t until he had passed me that I saw – his bumper was gone and his license plate was crushed. The evidence showed the driver had been reckless often enough to receive damage to the car. Thankfully no one else was hit but it sure came close. In a hurry, had to be first, trying to get ahead. All these things make for a reckless driver.
While we are supposed to have reckless devotion to Christ, reckless living will cause damage – to us and to others.
Oh beloved, this day God says to you – Don’t be in such a hurry. The only cure for reckless living is to be in constant communion with Me. I AM that I AM. This means when you give your life to Me you are no longer in charge – I AM. There’s no need to be rushed, first or competitive. In My Kingdom there is room for everyone, everything will flow beautifully and you will arrive to the destination I have for you right on time.
Jesus paid the price so that you can remain calm in times of distress, have peace in the midst of the storm and rest in the rush of life. Your greatest asset is trust – trust the Lord, trust His process, trust your prayers to get through and trust Him to provide everything you need for life and godliness. There’s a destiny that only God can give you. Arrival at the destiny of your anointing and calling won’t come without a price – giving up your desire to rush, panic, pre-plan and over achieve. In God’s Kingdom no one is ahead of the others.
God loves you and He’s for you. Go ahead and be recklessly devoted to Him! But let Him lead you and guide you and bless you in His timing. Rejoice that you can live a life that rests in His Promises and moves by His Spirit every day of your life!
