The Roots

We lost two very large oak trees in our back yard. We heard the crash before we knew what was happening. Both of them left huge holes in the yard where the roots were. It was a very windy day and they just toppled like match sticks. Compared to other areas of our nation the wind wasn’t all that strong. Regardless the damage was done.

It really wasn’t the strength of the wind but the shallowness of the roots that toppled them both.

Oh beloved, winds will come. Regardless of where you are or how wonderful life is there will someday be a fierce wind come your way. For you to survive what’s happening in your life God wants to build roots that grow deep in Him. He says spending time with Him is where your power grows. He says as you learn of Him you will be strengthened within. You may not even notice how strong you are or how deep your roots are built in Him. But every time the wind comes through or the rains rage or the floods flow you will be shown that strength by the Lord. He will give you a magnificent picture of your life in Christ. Jesus bore the pain of the ultimate adversity for you. Now He has given you the ability to withstand whatever comes your way. Your destiny is not just to hope you make it to heaven. Your destiny is to show forth the praises of Him who has brought you out of the darkness of unbelief and into His marvelous, powerful, strong Light!

God loves you and He’s for you! In the calm days and in the days of harsh conditions. You can rely on Him always. You can lean on Him for anything you need. You can plead His strength over your weakness. And you can stand in the wind and bless the Lord! You can resist the temptation to be uprooted from your faith! You can walk throughout your life without bowing to difficulty as you live in the wisdom, power and love of Holy Spirit within!

Colossians 2:7 Let your roots grow down into Him, and let your lives be built on Him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.

Ephesians 6:10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might.

Philippians 3:10 that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death.

Psalm 28:8 The Lord is their strength, And He is a saving defense to His anointed.

I Chronicles 16:11 Seek the Lord and His strength; Seek His face continually.

About rebekahbeene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”
