The half century old bridge crossing the Ouachita River in our town has done a great job of carrying everyone and everything across that river. It has looked fine all these years. Until now. Frankly now that the new bridge is about halfway done, we can tell how old the old bridge really is. It looks decrepit compared to the new span. With this new bridge we will go higher above the water, over the train trestle and drive off of it above the flood waters. The old bridge is on the historic register but the new bridge will streamline travel.
Oh beloved, God wants you to know that He has a trustworthy plan. The bridge you’ve been crossing over with regularity is now replaced. You’re not sure what’s happening. You want to keep going the old, familiar way. But it’s a new day and God has a new way for you. This bridge of faith will take you higher and farther. You are going to meet people, learn more things and find yourself coming face to face with the Lord’s will. While Christ became the bridge for you to cross over to salvation, there are more bridges to cross for life and godliness. Don’t waste another day regretting or wishing you could go back. The Lord God is a Forward Thrusting King. Your strength will rise as you allow Him to lead you and guide you even when you’re not sure where you are going. He knows and His way is best.
God loves you and He’s for you! Run to Him this morning and tell Him you’re ready to move on with Him! Thank Him for His Holy Spirit who indwells you to give you wisdom and fortitude during the change. Praise Him that once you’ve crossed the new way there will be new blessings as you live in the Light of His plan for your life!
John 10:4 When He has brought out all His own, He goes before them, and the sheep follow Him, for they know His voice.
John 8:12 Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’
Psalm 48:14 For that is what God is like. He is our God forever and ever, and He will guide us until we die.
Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take.
