We have one leftover from Christmas still in a container in the fridge. Everything else has been thrown out. I noticed this one item last night. Today it has to go. It would be dangerous to keep eating it. Nobody wants to get sick from old leftovers. It’s time to throw it out.
Oh beloved, when we are born again, we sometimes have leftovers that haunt us. Guilt, shame, condemnation. Those things are not for our ingestion. But they come our way. God wants you to know this morning that it’s time to throw them out! What once was part of everyday life has no part in the life hidden in Christ. You don’t have to live with the guilt of your past. Even if you made a mistake yesterday, it’s under the blood. Shame says that you are unworthy of the grace you have been given. It focuses on you and you focus on your unrighteousness. Truly we are all unrighteous on our own, but you beloved, walk in His righteousness which frees you from the shame. Condemnation is the polar opposite of salvation. It says you can’t be saved. It says you can find redemption. But beloved, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus!
God loves you and He’s for you. This is a new year, so clean out the recesses of your mind. Throw out the devil’s lies. Discard your own feelings that don’t line up with God’s Word! It’s a great time to start over and accept everything Christ has done for you. It’s a continual process and His love covers every sin you will ever commit. While it’s no excuse to live in sin, it is a reason to rejoice in Him! You are free, you have been delivered and you are set on high in the Spirit to walk free and blessed! Here is your victory and here is your power – to live in the Light of God’s Glory and Grace!
Romans 8:1 Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
Romans 5:16 And the result of God’s gracious gift is very different from the result of that one man’s sin. For Adam’s sin led to condemnation, but God’s free gift leads to our being made right with God, even though we are guilty of many sins.
I Corinthians 15:57 But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ.
I Peter 2:10 Once you had no identity as a people; now you are God’s people. Once you received no mercy; now you have received God’s mercy.
I Timothy 1:14 The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. NIV
