Our little family always watched the ball drop for the new year. They were three little children, so we stayed home with them. There was always anticipation for the drop of that glittery sphere. One year in particular I remember having to wake our youngest up because he had already fallen asleep. Truthfully there have been years when even I had a hard time staying awake! Now all our “children” are grown, some with families of their own. Still the new year comes around and still there is anticipation for that ball to drop and the new year to begin.
Oh beloved, much has happened in 2016. Some of it may have been red letter stuff for you. Some may be things you’d just as soon leave behind in the old year. Regardless of what you experienced this is going to be a brand new year. And with everything new comes change. The Lord wants you to know this morning that you can live a fervent life in the midst of all the change that is coming. Even the things you have no knowledge of yet, you can be sure that He is never unaware nor is He caught by surprise. His love for you is a lovely covering over all the 365 days ahead. He says you’ve made it! He goes on to say congratulations! In My Spirit you have overcome many obstacles and climbed many mountains. You’ve seen past the enemy when he tried to turn you away from your destiny. You’ve looked past the hardships that came your way and you can reach into the new year with firm resolution that nothing will separate you from the Love of God!
He wants you to know that He has already provided for your every need. His provision is eternal. Before the foundation of the world He knew you and had provision for it all. No matter if you’ve seen many years come and go or just a few, He has a plan for your life. He wants to bring more wisdom, power and love into your life this new year. He promises that some things you went through aren’t going to be in the new year. He will teach you new truths about His Sovereignty and Power as you go through new things. He wants you to know that regardless of what comes your way He is on the throne and He will direct your path and give you grace to make it in time of need. He says this is your year to lead – in prayer, in faith, in friendship and fellowship. This is your year to reign as a believer who knows their God, lives in the Light of Christ’s cross and is filled with Holy Spirit fire!
God loves you and He’s for you. Leave behind the regrets, take into account the blessings and walk into the new year knowing that you are going to live stronger than ever in the Light of His Powerful plans!
