Among the Christmas decorations at the house is a nativity I inherited from my mother. As with all nativities, it is set up where all the characters are facing outward so you can see each one. One day I looked and they were all tucked in closely together in a close circle facing inward. Even the musical angel and another musical Christmas decoration were in the circle.
I went over to rearrange them and found that in the middle of the circle was the baby Jesus figurine. Our granddaughter Stella had rearranged them so that they were all looking at Jesus. He had truly become the center of the scene.
Oh beloved, you are so blessed! Jesus is the Center of your circle. He has become your main focus. He has been with you through so much. Although Joseph and Mary played a very prominent part in the story they are not the center of your life. Only One – the Christ child – has seen you through it all. You’ve been through things, but Jesus has promised to be with you always. And you’ve not been accompanied by a mere babe in a manger. Oh no, you’ve experienced the Risen Savior – the Lord of Heaven and Earth. You’re not alone and you’re not accomplishing your own success. It’s been Jesus all the way. Rejoice this morning that your strength is rising, your accomplishments are supernatural, your life plans are extraordinary – all because you focus on the Lord!
When any of us gets our eyes off Jesus we make mistakes and have regrets. But when we place attention on Him alone we find ourselves full of confidence, praise, worship and adoration. Turning outward we have our focus in the world. Turning to Him everything changes.
God loves you and He’s for you! This Christmas make sure you give attention to Christ and share Him with your family especially. What a wonderful season to make Him Lord of your life – to renew your vows and replace your focus – as you live in the Light of World – Jesus!
Hebrews 12:2 We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith…
Isaiah 45:22 Let all the world look to me for salvation! For I am God; there is no other.
Hebrews 3:1 Therefore, holy brothers and sisters, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, whom we acknowledge as our Apostle and High Priest. NIV
