Christmas Tree of Life

Everybody who’s putting up a tree has generally got it done by now. We’ve had ours up two weeks. There were favorite ornaments we could not find but finally that box of the best and dearest was found. It just doesn’t feel right until those ornaments are added. They are memory reminders of past events and childhood reminders of great Christmases. Then there are the new ornaments, the ones that get picked out each year to add to the whole lot. There are also the one that somehow got broken during the storage time and can’t be put back for this year.

You might say the Christmas trees in homes across America are like a tree of life. We tend to decorate our life trees with our memories and we hang both good and bad for us to see and recall. We may focus on the hardships, worries, fears, regrets and rejections that have come our way. Those are hung in the front as we keep recalling them almost daily.

But what if God decorated your tree? What would He put on it? How would He do that? Would He keep past troubles on the tree? Would He want you recalling every mistake, misstep and misunderstanding? Would He like reminding you of all you missed, all you wished, or all that was broken and discarded in your life?

God wants to decorate your life with His Truth! If you look closely at the Word of God you will see all the decorations, God’s finest, hanging there for you and the entire world to see! He’d hang the Cross at the top to remind you that you are bought with a price and all your sins were removed once and for all. He’d hang the star to remind you to find the Savior every time to you feel unloved or useless. He’d place a stone there, for the stone was rolled away so that you too could live in newness of life. Along with these symbols of God’s best for you He’d hang words of love, joy, peace, faith, blessing! He’d also hang Words that describe you to Him such as beloved, redeemed, chosen, adopted, accepted. Of course He’d hang reminders for you to live by: forgive, forget, love, grace, peace and joy.

Oh beloved, don’t you think it’s time to decorate your life with God’s truth? When God thinks of you He thinks loving, thoughtful, encouraging things about you. His love covers you all the days of your life. His mercy extends all the way to your worst day and biggest mistakes. He wants each new morning to remind you that He is for you all the days of your life. He will never remind you of your past regrets and He will never want you living with broken things still hanging in your tree.

God loves you and He’s for you! Let that be the reason you decorate your life and remind yourself of all that He is for you! Your life is a perfect showpiece of His glory, mercy, salvation and grace! Renounce the junk once and for all and redecorate today as you learn to practice all that He is for you and all you are in Him!

Ephesians 1:13-14 And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in Him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is given as a pledge of our inheritance, with a view to the redemption of God’s own possession, to the praise of His glory.

Romans 8:30 And those He predestined, He also called; those He called, He also justified; those He justified, He also glorified.

Ephesians 1:18-19 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe.

I Corinthians 1:30-31 God has united you with Christ Jesus. For our benefit God made Him to be wisdom itself. Christ made us right with God; He made us pure and holy, and He freed us from sin, so that, just as it is written, “LET HIM WHO BOASTS, BOAST IN THE LORD.”

Song of Solomon 2:4 He has brought me to His banquet hall, And His banner over me is love.

About rebekahbeene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”
