One thing I love to hear is our little grandchildren blessing the meal. They just are so sweet. They automatically give thanks for everything. Little things seem to be huge things to them. Giving thanks comes easily and naturally to them.
The lesson here is that it’s not hard to “give” thanks when we “are” thankful.
Oh beloved, you and I have much to be thankful for. That means we can give thanks. The tendency is to replay the mistakes, the unfulfilled wishes and the hard times. God wants you to know this morning that you can even give thanks in those things. Thank the Lord that your mistakes are wiped away like sidewalk chalk drawings in the rain. Thank Him that what you didn’t get must not have been what you needed for He provides all your needs. Thank Him as well that the hard times don’t last but they build character for the future. Giving thanks is the best gift you can give the Lord. It is a worshipful response to a life that is built on His goodness and providence. Being thankful will guard your heart and mind when things aren’t perfect. Your response is not the sum of all the things that have gone wrong all your life. No, your response is the multiplication of all the times God has been guidance through obstacles, strength through weaknesses and sovereign in when you are doubtful. Once you have navigated the holidays and melancholy tries to take over, giving thanks will chase it away! Your destiny requires you to live above the natural and instead soar in the supernatural and thanksgiving prayer is the elevator to the best!
God loves you and He’s for you! That alone is enough to live thankful and give thanks! Your life is a picture of blessing and glory as you recount all His wonderful deeds and choose blessing and honor always!
I Thessalonians 5:18 Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
Psalm 105:1 Give thanks to the LORD and proclaim His greatness. Let the whole world know what He has done.
Psalm 30:12 That my soul may sing praise to You and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks to You forever.
