God reminded me last night about an episode of Alaskan living. The horses had gotten out of the paddock and they had to go looking for them. Finally they were found on a grassy knoll. Unfortunately one of the horses had gotten tangled up. Its mane and hoof were bound by a piece of barbed wire. Gingerly the young man cut the hair away from the piece of wire and loosed it away from the hoof. It was touch and go because the horse kicked a bit. Finally the horse was free to walk again. Both horses walked back to the paddock without any more trouble.
Much as I hate to admit it, I got caught up in a lot of news lately. I got tangled in the barbs of words. I was concerned for some and upset with others. It tried to consume my feelings and my time. The Lord also reminded me that He wants me untangled from the things of this world. Not distant because He has empathy for all mankind. But not tangled up. He wants me free to be His emissary in this world and He wants me to take on His yoke, which is easy and His burden is light.
Oh beloved, it’s wonderful to know that you can live an unfettered life! You aren’t under your circumstances! You are free to be you in Christ! You don’t have to worry about the world coming to an end over natural things for God is holding everything in orbit and keeps the stars in the sky for as long as He deems fit. Your life is not on the edge of destruction even when all else about you is falling apart. But you are going to have to allow Him to untangle you from affairs of this world. He has better things for you to consume your life with – namely Him. Don’t let the enemy keep you fettered by circumstances. You are in Christ, you are not a civilian but a soldier of the Army of the Lord. Skirmishes rise up and settle down all the time, but you have the mind of Christ! You are on assignment as an ambassador from heaven. You are here to change the atmosphere when you walk into a room or a situation. You can speak love when there’s hate and you can speak peace in the turmoil as you walk in it for yourself. Most of all you can share the Gospel with those who have no hope!
God loves you and He’s for you. What wonderful gifts God has given us through Christ that we can have His freedom no matter what is going on around us. We can have His peace, joy and confidence as well! He paid the price for us to live without being snared by the devil’s distractions and leap in the fields with Him! And when we forget He is gracious and loving to seek us out and clip us free! Rejoice that you can live for Jesus and walk in His Word all the days of your life!
