My Mother had great advice. One of her best was “Don’t believe anything you hear and only half of what you see”. This morning I hear God saying so true.
Look at the sky. What do you see? Look at the weather report. What do you hear? This morning I saw thunderheads in the western sky and I hear that the hurricane on the east coast is still projected to be the worst in centuries.
Oh beloved, what does God say? What have you seen Him do? What have you heard Him say? We need to become people of God. That means we are going to have to learn to lean into Him when the winds of negativity and rumor blow through our home. That means we’ve got to look to the sky but we’re not looking for foreboding storms that we know are going to get us. No! We’re looking to the sky for the return of Christ! We’re listening for His voice alone! We’ll be disappointed at least and in chaos at most if we listen to all the voices trying to get our attention.
You are no longer just in the family of man with its sorrows, troubles, regrets, vengeance, unforgiveness and anger. No! You’re new birth has set you on another course! Your trajectory is to believe against all hope, to concentrate on the good things, to bear all things, believe all things, hope all things, and endure all things. You’re on the course of the heavenlies! Even those who don’t seem to want to hear your good news are desperate to believe.
God loves you and He’s for you. He set you in the family of God! It’s your birthright to declare the glory of the Lord! It’s in your expectation to believe that God can change anything and everything. It’s your destiny to live in the light of God’s imperishable truth!
2 Corinthians 5:7 For we live by faith, not by sight. NIV
2 Corinthians 4:18 So we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are unseen; for the things which are visible are temporal [just brief and fleeting], but the things which are invisible are everlasting and imperishable. Amplified
Romans 1:11. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “BUT THE RIGHTEOUS man SHALL LIVE BY FAITH.”
James 2:23 and the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “AND ABRAHAM BELIEVED GOD, AND IT WAS RECKONED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS,” and he was called the friend of God.
