As I walked through the house last night I looked at paintings that my brother had painted of a vacation we had taken together when I was a teenager. Then as I walked up the hall I saw our children’s and grandchildren’s portraits from various ages lined up. What a blessing to see life memories hanging on the walls; there to remind me of a lifetime of reminiscences.
God spoke to my heart. The enemy of our soul wants to show a different set of memories – he wants us to review our past regrets, hurts and sins. The pictures of our life he focuses on are hurtful and full of pain. But the Lord wants to show us the beauty in our lives – how He saved us, how He blesses us and how He is with us all the days of our lives.
Oh beloved, you don’t have to leave the hurtful and regretful memories hanging in your mind’s wall. You don’t have to walk through the halls of memories being reminded of anything from your past, especially the things that are under the blood of Christ. Enjoy the blessed memories, review them often. Don’t let the enemy give you thoughts that lead to sorrow. He cannot replay what you don’t allow. And praise is the antidote for sorrows. Worship is the antithesis of regrets. You don’t have to live with regrets hanging in your heart and mind. In Christ the canvas is wiped clean and He has begun a new portrait of you and your life. Your destiny is to live a life of blessing, honor and joy! The enemy knows your past and wants you to live there. The Lord knows your past and wants you to live in the present with Him. Next time the enemy tries to hang the wrong thoughts in the gallery of your mind, refuse it! Your destiny is to live courageously and victoriously with purpose and faithfulness! The strength within you to resist the enemy’s lies is far greater than you can imagine, for greater is He who is in you than the one who is in the world!
God loves you and He’s for you. You can be assured God is not beating you down with bad memories nor is He bringing up your past regrets. Rejoice and be set free to enjoy your life. Focus on what God did for you, how Christ has stepped into your past and redeemed it and how Holy Spirit now anoints and appoints you to live in the Light of God’s Glory & Grace!
Romans 8:15 So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.”
Hebrews 10:17 Then He says, “I will never again remember their sins and lawless deeds.”
Hebrews 2:14-15 Therefore, since the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself likewise also partook of the same, that through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and might free those who through fear of death were subject to slavery all their lives.
I Corinthians 2:12 And we have received God’s Spirit (not the world’s spirit), so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us.
