As I looked at the picture of flood waters at a state park in the next county I was amazed. How many times had I been there as a teenager. Yet this time the guard rail was barely above the water and you could not tell where the parking area even was. Had she not identified the area, I would never have known where it was.
Oh beloved, the old familiar places you remember are now undiscernible. You want to go back in time before the flood of life, worries, fears, mistakes, rejection and more. How many times you found comfort in the old way, in the old places and the identity of how things were. God wants you to know this morning that although you cannot now identify where your place of comfort was, He is making a new way for you that will bring you more comfort than you can imagine! He has shown you the depths of His riches and you know you want to follow Him all the way. Out of the old familiar things and into the uncharted, unmarked waters of His Spirit. It’s natural that you would want others to agree with your decision to follow Christ with your whole heart and to pursue Spirit filled living with gusto. But the place you are going isn’t identifiable to them either.
You’ve moved away from natural in you are now swimming in the supernatural. You’ve gone from living in the past and now you are living in the Presence of the King! Your life is being redefined for last days living! You are called out, called up and called to – out of the predictable, up into the heavenlies and you are headed to parts not formerly known by you! This is no ordinary thing you are experiencing. It’s extraordinary! You are becoming more and more dependent on the Father to guide you instead of old familiar guard rails and parking areas. Your destiny lies in trusting the Lord with all your heart and leaning not to your own understanding! It lies as well in superabundant provision in the unknown as you leave behind the known!
God loves you and He’s for you! That’s why you can follow Him without fear! That’s why you can become an intrepid explorer of new territory in the Spirit! That’s why you can rejoice as you live unattached to the average and hooked completely to the Spirit in the Light of His plan for your life!
Luke 5:4 -6 When He had finished speaking, He said to Simon, “Now go out where it is deeper, and let down your nets to catch some fish.” “Master,” Simon replied, “we worked hard all last night and didn’t catch a thing. But if You say so, I’ll let the nets down again.”
Mark 8:35 If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for My sake and for the sake of the Good News, you will save it.
Psalm 119:58 I sought Your favor with all my heart; Be gracious to me according to Your word.
