To Abide is Better Than Performing

Watching the circus with our daughter and grandchildren, we noticed this time that the lions and tigers were absent. I got online to find information and it seems that the lion and tiger show is a separate company that no longer travels with the circus. We went on to enjoy the show. They had a zebra that could count but slipped several times on the plastic floor of the show ring. After reading about animal care in circuses I certainly felt sorry for the performer. His trainer seemed to watch him closely hopefully to make sure he was not injured.

God speaks to my heart: When you are made to perform you can get hurt.

Oh beloved, God wants you to know this morning He is not watching for you to slip. And when you do He is right with you to lift you back up, check you out and keep you moving forward. His love doesn’t expect you to perform because with performance comes the chance for injury. He has a plan for your life and He has instructed you on life and godliness. But performance – that is doing things for God in order to be rewarded – isn’t in the cards. You are not in a show ring with a task master and a whip forcing you to go through the routines of religious ceremonies or obligations.  You may think you are better when you are busy or in a frenzy. You may think that you are a failure when you don’t live up to some anonymous expectations of your own heart or the expectations of a leader who isn’t in love with Jesus. But here’s your key, beloved, live life out of the love of God and you will find yourself at peace and at rest, even in the busy times. Rest is a resident gift to the one who has learned to live in the deep, deep love of Jesus!

Oh what wondrous times you are in for as you learn to live loved! This is a new day! You can run to the Father and spend time with Him. You can ask Him for His plans for you. You can ask Him to relieve you as a beast of burden and change your heart to be a conduit of His love and grace wherever you go and whatever you do! This is your truth: A godly woman is powerful, confident and victorious.  She knows that in spite of weakness, her strength is in the Lord! She knows that as long as she is confident in her walk with Him, she has nothing to perform or measure up to. There is no fear in this love story for she knows and accepts how loved she is.

God loves you and He’s for you. Thank Him for the gift He has given you to use as a ministry of reconciliation first to your own heart and then to others. You will live your Christian walk to the heights as you live completely in the light of His Love and Grace!

I John 4:18 Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced His perfect love.

Romans 8:15 So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.”

Romans 8:1 Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

Ephesians 2:10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.

John 15:4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me.

2 Corinthians 1:21-22 It is God who enables us, along with you, to stand firm for Christ. He has commissioned us.

About rebekahbeene

In a Women’s meeting in 1983, I went up for prayer and to see if God had “anything for me”. The woman of God who was praying for people spoke over my life. She said these words: “You will write books. You can go to the bank on it. Rivers of living water will flow from your belly…”
